  • I'm new!!!

    Hi,

You can call me Vic. I'm terrible with the computer so, I'm not sure if this is the right way to introduce myself or not. I am totally committed to do Atkins for life. Two things I'm running into that seems to be a challenge is finding new things to eat. I used to be good with cooking but not I just don' t have the drive. I am still waiting for the energy that seems to come with the diet but I am not satisfied with my energy level yet. Also, I need for ammunition to defend the diet to people who ask me about if its healthy. The quantity of meat we eat to them should give us extremely high cholestrol but it doesn't. I need a better plan to support my hopes. Thank you for the few people that have already sent me messages.
When I learn how to use the forum I will be able to be a team player.

    High Hopes,
    Vic

    Re: I'm new!!!

you did perfectly fine with your spotlight introduction.

you can be assured that atkins is a wonderful way to eat. when the critice say things like 'all you eat is meat and cheese' be ready to tell them what you already know............ most of our carbs come from vegetables! we do carbs and we do good carbs!

one thing that might help as far as interesting food and more choices might be found by sifting through the recipe forum. things from induction recipes and maintenance can be found and tried.

and while your looking into things, why not come join us in the WEIGH? NO WAY! CHALLENGE. the link is in my signature. it's the last for sign up!

        Hey Vic!

Welcome aboard! I too find it difficult to add variety to the induction phase. But here is a good place to get started, check out Linda's Low Carb Menu webiste. There are some GREAT induction friendly recipes here! Just track the carb counts and make sure the ingredients are on the approved food list.

          Re: Permanent Induction???

          Hi Frankenspine,

Thanks for your attention. I just weighed today. I weigh only once a week on Mondays. I did not loosed any weight at all, even after tightening my discipline. I have been on the induction for seven weeks and I lost 10 lbs. the first week (great) and either nothing, or less than 3lbs. since that time. I keep telling my self "This is a life style, not a diet that will change. So, I will keep trying. I wonder what my body is using for energy?? I know in the diet revolution book, Dr. Atkins gives a plan for very resistent people. I guess if I haven't lost any weight again next week when I weigh, I will be forced to go there.

            Hi, Vic

Congrats on your loss so far! That's great!

Umm... I can tell by the quote above, that you haven't fully read the book yet. The book fully explains what your body is using for energy. It also explains that if you were able to lose 10 pounds in one week, that you probably aren't highly resistant to weight loss. It also explains that a plateau is a halt in weight loss (or inches lost) that lasts at least a month and has nothing to do with changes in food intake or lifestyle.

There are way too many things to consider first, before assuming that you are highly resistant to weight loss. If you haven't yet, please read this sticky: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html

Use this board to your advantage. You can post your experience in the Induction forum for support, and you can post your menus in the Review My Menu forum for some feedback. The link to that forum is in the sticky I directed you to. Have you taken your measurements yet? What are you doing for exercise?

Don't fall back on remedies for highly resistant people just yet! Much too early in the game for that. It would be GREAT if the weight came off in a linear fashion, but it just doesn't.

            Good Luck!

              Hey, Vic

Hang in there. I lost 15lbs my first week, then stalled for three. But know I'm back on track and losing. Can you post your daily menu? I went back to the Atkins Book and found I wasn't eating enough fat or drinking enough water. I also increased my physical activity. I had to read the entire book to realize I wasn't doing a 'clean' induction.

You can do it. I constantly remind myself that it took me years to gain the weight and I can't expect it to simply fall off in a few weeks. Hange in there.
