  • Hello from Attleboro MA! Andrew here.

I found this site yesterday and already made mock danish's last night. Great receipe! thanks. It really satisfied my need for something "not meat"

A little about me. I am 43 and have been a carbo-holic all my life. Probably my Sicilian/Italian upbringing and the fact that every meal has pasta on the side all my life.

College years a I was in pretty good shape over the last 15 year not so much...

I am 6' 1" and weighed 259 on 9/5/08 I am in the induction phase and today I weighed in at 251 I am pretty happy with happy with 8 pounds in 5 days!

My mini-goal is 15 pounds a month and I hope to be at my goal weight 195 pounds by late January 2009.

Thanks to everyone for the great posts on restaurants, tips, tricks and motivational before and after pics!

    Wish me luck!

    Hello, Andrew

    Welcome to ADBB!

Oh yeah... I know about that Italian upbringing. My mother's parents owned/operated one of the best Italian restuarants in Baton Rouge for 52 years. I find it more difficult to try to find Atkins friendly foods when it comes to Italian and Chinese cuisines. Thankfully, there's lots of other stuff we can eat.

If you haven't done so yet, make sure to check out this "sticky". http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html

    Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the shout out MitziMarie!

I am not and have never been a cook but it looks like the only way for me to 1) stay on induction and 2) not get bored to death is to cook for myself.

That said I am so thankful to the folks who take the time to post meal recommendations and receipes!

Tonight we are having hamburger/broccoli/Alfredo Cassarole.

I went out at lunchtime to get the fixings... Hopefully it turns out alright.

I even made it thru the bakery section of the grocery store unscathed!

Something we have in common! I'm no cook either... I hate it, in fact. But, seeing how this way of living is based upon whole, natural, unprocessed foods, I've had to expand my cooking horizons. I'm still no chef, but I'm slowly learning. Your dinner tonight sounds great!

I included this link (to a great site for recipes) in the sticky I directed to you earlier, but I'll provide it here in case you don't feel like reading the sticky. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home

Check it out - it's incredible!

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did I screw up that bad????? UGH

Wednesday morning I weighed myself before work and was happy to see 251 on the scale. Yesterday I ate a can of tuna with mayo and some chopped parsley for lunch and then had a big bowl of soup (chicken broth, fresh grated parmesan cheese,2 eggs and fresh chopped parsley and a big slice of the Hamburger/Brocolli/Alfredo Casserole I made with a receipe from this site. (Hamburger, chopped onion, cream cheese, brocolli florets, chopped garlic and grated parmesan - I actually forgot the 1/2 cup of heavy cream) It still came out pretty good. I ate and then went to the gym ran/walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes and did a little (not much) shoulder workout using the machines.

This morning I get on the scale and....253!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH did I screw up that badly?

Re: Hello from Attleboro MA! Andrew here.

doesn't sound like you screwed up eating, you just can't get on the scale every day. Try and get weighed just once a week, same day, same time. Otherwise you will see your weight jumping all over the place and it'll drive you crazy. You can get weighed 3 times in one day and you'll end up seeing 3 different results. Concentrate more on what you eat and less on the scale, you'll look forward to the one day you get weighed and you'll love the results.

                Hey Andrew! Welcome to ADBB!
Don't sweat the weigh in. Its only natural that weight fluctuates constantly...that's why you shouldn't weigh in everyday. As long as your doing everything right...and it sounds like you are...you'll be fine!

Also...Your not far from me! Fall River, MA here!!

                Have a great day!

Perfect advice, Diamonds! That is how I did it... started on a Sunday, and weighed in on Sundays only, until I reached goal. The scale can mess with your head... especially when exercising. Each time I have a hard workout, or change routines, my muscles retain water, and that shows on the scale... even when my body was getting smaller. The scale is a terrible gauge for fat loss. I always kept an article of clothing that was too tight, and tried it on every 10 days or so. It was great fun to watch something that I couldn't button/zip, become so big that I had to give it away.

                              Well done, Andrew!

Hey, I put some intructions on how to add information to your siggie, so it will show each time that you post, in this "sticky". Click on this, if you haven't seen it yet. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html

You've got some great goals, and are achieving results! I would put these things in your siggie. That way, we know your "story" when we see one of your posts, and you can inspire others. And it's fun to track your progress.
