  • There is hope!

I've been on Atkins once before, about eight years ago I lost 39 pounds. I got down to 236 and lost my will to the Starbuck's Almond Croissant. Glad they don't have those anymore!

In the last three days this board has been SOOO helpful. I'm on day 11 of the induction phase. Yesterday I was feeling a bit down and really wanted to get something crunchy. Thank GOD for induction cookies! What an amazing and wonderful 2 carb treat and you can make them one at a time!

The last time I didn't have all the wonderful recipes on ADBB. Yesterday I was so excited to go shopping again for more ingredients to my diet. I've already been blessed by the board and felt like I should join instead of watching from the outside. Everyone seems so genuine about their support. Thank you for that.

I'm a 44 year old guy who was 149 when I went into the service. Through life I managed to gain, and gain. Seems like every life event added 20 pounds. The military, marriage, kid, new job, another kid, another new job you get the idea.

I look forward to all the support and great recipes!

Doh, Homer got me with the donuts! But I'm fighting back with the minute muffin!

Hi, Jimbo! I like your attitude ! Well, you've come to the right place for support and information, that's for sure. Checking in often here helps a lot, as does signing up for the various Challenges. We're all on the same path, after all. The Atkins veterans here are super, super helpful (I'm a relative newbie, myself) ... if you've got a question, they've probably got the answer!
    Donuts are EVIL! =
    (ok, so that's a cupcake ... same difference !)

Check the recipe thread in the forums under deserts. This recipe was posted by another member but here is the text from that post.

I got this idea combining flax meal crackers with flax meal cereal.

        2 Tbl spoon flax meal
        1 packet Spenda
        1/8 t cinnamin (sp)
        1 Tbl spoon butter
        2 Tbl spoon water
mix dry ingredients, add butter and microwave 30 secs. Add water, stir and place on a peice of parchment paper. Spread thin with an offset spatula or a spoon. Microwave on high for 2 1/2 to 4 min. till crisp. Let cool. You can also break this up and mix with cream.

Don't forget to count the carbs. 1 for flax and 1 for Splenda.

In my microwave 2.5 minutes was perfect. I took the liberty of adding some clarification to his original post in blue to make sure it was correct.

        These are great.

        Regards

          Re: There is hope!

Tom sent me a note from ADBB the other day saying y'all missed me on line. Just thought I should give you an update on my progress.

I'm down to 260.8 as of this morning. Feeling really good and still going on the diet. Getting a bit more exercise and looking forward to the next half of my goal. I can see 220 from hear. It is off in the distance but three months ago I couldn't even see the horizon.

Keep up the good work all, the goal is achievable and the rewards are vitality and a full breath of air!

PS.. I don't know how the rest of you feel about it but I can buy a three pound bag of very tasty shelled walnuts from Costco and eat a half a cup a day. It really is filling and keeps the sugar bug away not to mention helping with digestion if you know what I mean.

PSS.. I used to use my old smaller-ish jeans to work in the garage. My sweetie just went through the laundry and found five new-er-old-new-again jeans for me to wear that fit wonderfully. The 40's are a bit tight but hey the legs fit!

Great to hear about your progress.
I think nuts are pretty healthy things. Many dieters have issues with nuts such as it is hard to control portions on them - and carbs and calories can add up fast - and other find that they stall their weight.
So are you climbing the rungs on the Atkins carb ladder?
