I started on 9/11 and I am very excited. Weekends are the hardest time for me, so I was really happy that I was able to pull through without giving in to temptations. Already I feel my cravings diminishing and my crankiness that appeared over Saturday and Sunday has dissipated as well.
I'm looking to lose about 20 lbs. In the past year and a half I've gained about ten pounds, mostly due to getting comfortable in a relationship and losing interest in my workout routine. At the beginning of 2007 I was doing great with my workouts, I'd go to the gym 6 days a week and implemented weight training and cardio with a normal diet. Somehow I fell off track and just spiraled out of control. A few weeks ago I realized that I couldn't zipper up, let alone button, any of my real pants (ie the ones not made of lycra). This was a big wake-up call for me.
I decided that I wouldn't bring in another new year with pumped up resolutions that never come through; this time I'm going to START the new year in shape, and minus the extra pounds.
One of the biggest challenges I have with Atkins is that I don't enjoy eating meat that much. Especially not by itself. I can do chicken breast, a steak, even lamb chops and pork chops every so often, but certainly not for every meal or even every day. I also don't enjoy eating cheese by itself. This has severely curbed my amount of food intake, I've noticed, because the things I'm allowed to eat I don't always have a taste for.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!
Best,
Sarah
