Hello everyone, I am new to the Atkins bulletin boards, but have actually been doing Atkins since end of May this year, so roughly 3.5 months .. I'm losing track a little of how much I have lost but it's around the 40lb mark. I was 15 stone 9 lbs when I started and I'm just edging under 13 stone now.
I've been watching the boards for the last 3 months and you have all really helped with answers to questions, motivation and just general ideas about what to do with Atkins.
I am still in induction because I have around 70lbs to lose in total, but am over half way there now and feel absolutley great and not finding extended induction any problem at all .. In fact I'd go so far as to say that this diet is easy - you never feel hungry, so you can't really go wrong, and my cravings for chips, sweets etc have all but gone.
I have PCOS which is what got me onto Atkins and it's working a treat - before Atkins I was eating a fully laden carb diet, which included chips and pie most lunch times. I felt dreadful, tired in the mornings even after 9 hours sleep and was going to the loos every afternoon to grab 10 minutes of shut eye. I was so utterly exhausted, and just never associated that with all the carbs I was eating.
Now 40lbs lighter I go to circuit training twice a week and spinning once a week, and am just about to add a ceroc dance class to that. I never feel the need to nap during the day and I wake up raring to go.
My confidence is starting to come back - I feel slightly less invisible than I did 3 months ago... so I feel like I'm starting to live again, it's like coming out of a dark cave I've been in for ten years and seeing the light.
I also tried Reductil for the last month after I lost around 30lbs, but it stalled me completely, I did read in ATkins that new medication can stall you and it really did. To be honest, it claimed to suppress appetite, but my appetite has diminished beyond recognition on Atkins anyway ... so who needs diet pills !!!!!! they made me depressed any way ..
Well that's all for now - I'll continue to read all your posts with interest and hopefully add a few of my own now I've made the first move.
