  • New kid on the block!

I'm a 64 yr old female who is desperately trying to lose weight.

First of all I can't find Quick Links at the top of the page as the Intro said I would. So I can't do a signature.

I have had low blood sugar since I was about 18. I mostly ignored the symptoms and just ate what I wanted. At that age I was slim and could eat anything and my LBS symptoms weren't that bad. Through the years the symptoms worsened... I also gained weight after having 3 children and hitting 40. I tried the ATkins back in the 80's and lost weight quickly. Of course I didn't stay on it, and now I'm back to suffering with LBS symptoms and overweight again. This time the diet isn't working as well even though I'm stricter on it. Everyone at work admires my willpower.

I start the Atkins seriously on May 1 and I weighted (naked) 223. I'm 5'3" with a muscular built. I am now 213. I don't think I"m doing as well as others on this diet. I have not cheated at all. I have not even baked any of the Atkins desserts like I did years ago, or bought the Atkins candy bars or anything!

Here is my daily meal plan.

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs w/cheese, with 4 slices of bacon (or 3 pork sausages).
Lunch: 1/2 cup of chicken salad with celery and onion and mayo. 1/2 cup of strawberry's with homemade whipped cream(Splenda).
Supper: Meat of the day with a salad or cauliflower, green beans, brussel sprouts, broccoli, or asparagus.

If I get hungry before bed (we eat an early supper) I mix a little Ricotta with whipped cream and eat it like pudding.

This is all I have eaten since going off the induction which lasted 2 full weeks. On the induction I did not eat strawberries. That's the only thing I added since going off the induction.

I don't get much exercise although I work full time as a secretary, it doesn't give me too much exercise. When I get home, cook supper, clean up... I'm too pooped to exercise. I do a lot of stairs on laundry day.

What am I doing wrong? My hunger is back and my stick doesn't turn purple anymore.

you will find the quick links tab on the purpleish tool bar at the top of your page. it should be the next to the last thing, right next to the log out tab.

just click on the quick link and choose edit signature.

Welcome Barbee! Maybe you should start by putting your daily menu into Fitday www.fitday.com and see what your total calories, carb count and percentages are coming out to. I think that would be as good as any place to start, then post your results.

these are just a few things that i saw.

        1/2 cup of strawberry's
should be added on the berry rung which is rung 4.

        eggs w/cheese.....a little Ricotta
you don't really state amounts but are you over doing the cheese?

homemade whipped cream.....Ricotta with whipped cream
        are you overdoing the cream?

how much salt is in the bacon?
have you been drinking your minimum of 64 oz. of water?

I can't drink that much water, I'm up all night in the bathroom now! I can't drink past 6 pm but I do drink tea and water all day.

I put 1/2 slice of provolone in my eggs. If I don't I'm hungry before lunch time at 11. I eat at 6 a.m.

PS, I like Johnson a lot but Tony Stewart's my man. I'm a big NASCAR fan.

I'm on my old computer and I have the screen set at 800 x 600 and that part of the bar was cut off... I scrolled over and there it is.

i would suggest exchanging your tea for clear, nothing added water. that would help with the 64 oz. tea is allowed but it is not to take the place of water.

maybe you can't handle the splenda?

also, don't compare your loss, or the speed of it, with anyone else. that will only make you crazy. your body is unique and it's not going to react the same as bettyblueeyes or toughguytommy.

i'm just throwing stuff out there that others have had problems with.

I would also check the calorie content. Your breakfast sounds rather high to me. I'm 63 and 5'2 so I know that I can't eat the amount of food that Dr. A recommends for younger, taller people. That's the mistake I made the first time I did Atkins. i have muscle too and can even still do a backbend (double jointed) but I really have to watch those calories!

If I eat any less than it doesn't take me to 11:00 I'm starving at 9:30 or 10:00. According to the ATkins book I have, you don't have to count calories.

Breakfast is supposed to be the biggest meal of the day and for me it is. If I dont eat a good breakfast I am hungry all day. I eat a very small lunch and supper.
