  • New to the board: Big Papa

Hi everyone. I'm Keith, best known as "Big Papa".
I am 6'4 310 and I'm looking forward to losing at least 80 lbs.
I've done Atkins once before and went from 290 to 260, but that's been several years ago.
In high school I was an athlete. I played basketball and ran track and weighed 195.
I'm also doing P90X (I'm on day 39 today) so that should cover the exercise side of things.
I'm looking forward to the journey. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Thanks in advance for the support.

Welcome Keith!! Good luck on your journey and congrats for coming back to the WOE that works

I've heard crazy things about the intensity of the P90X.. is it really hardcore?

welcome, does the intensity of the p90x workout increase your carb cravings? One of the things my doctor warned me against was "going too crazy" with exercise, lest it derail my weight loss by greatly increasing my appetite, so I'm interested in your experience with this intense regime

            Thanks everyone.

P90X is pretty intense, but there are modifications that can be made for every move on the program. I had to start out doing my pull ups by just using a band draped over the pull up bar. Now I'm doing them with my foot in a chair. Hopefully next month I'll be doing regular un-assisted pull-ups.
I'm on day 38 or 39 or P90x and only on day 4 of Atkins. I've already lost 3.5 lbs though. I did notice a dip in energy on day 2 of Atkins, but yesterday and today I feel fine. I have not noticed an increase in hunger, but for days 1-37 of P90X I really ate very little so eggs and steak go a long way.
I'm having my low-carb breakfast bowl from Hardees right now, so I think I'll savor the meal.
            Thanks again.
