  • hey guys! :)

My name is Cara...I'm new...I'm really here to lose these 20lbs I've gained on this stupid new Birth Control. I lost 50lbs 3 years ago and kept it off up until recently. I was happy in a size 10/12...I like to be curvy as long as everything is proportionate. Now I am in a 14 and not only that my body FEELS these extra pounds, I've been having unexplainable aches and pains and pain in my joints which I hadn't felt in a long while. I really just want to get back to where I was. My whole wardrobe demands it. I'm not trying to be skinny...to me womanly shapes are prettier, and my fiance loves the curves. I just want to be happy again with myself...and I was happy before... I am on day 5 of induction...it's going just fine. And I plan to lose 30lbs (for good measure) Wish me luck!

        Re: hey guys!

Are you on the depo shot? I was on that for 2 yrs and managed to gain 20 lbs or so. I found that diets didnt work, all they did was slow down my weight gain. If you are on it and find you have trouble losing ( i couldnt even lose weight on this diet when i was on the depo) then you might want to talk to your doctor about other birth control options. If you have a child you could get mirena, thats what i did.

Not true. I have no children and I have a Mirena as do many of my colleagues. That stipulation is set for 2 reasons: First to ensure adequate uterine depth. If your womb can hold a baby it can hold a tiny plastic T without expelling it. If you haven't been pregnant all we do is "sound" you (measure by inserting a small narrow rod past your cervix) to ensure adequate depth. The second reason is that it is a method of BC that lasts up to 5 years and women who have had children already are more likely to WANT 5 years of uninterrupted protection. However if you have no children currently and your birth plan is to wait a few years before trying to conceive (if at all) AND you are in a mutually monogamous relationship, then you are a candidate for Mirena.

Voila! There's the fine print for ya. If Mirena still isn't for you and you are having issues on the pill you may want to give Nuva Ring a whirl. A lot fewer systemic side effects.
