  • Thank You!

I can't find the thread I was in before... I was telling about how my weight wasn't coming off as fast as everyone else here and nice people gave me a lot of suggestions... one of which really worked.

It wasn't the strawberries, or the dairy that was stalling me it was what I was drinking.

I was drinking lots of water, but flavored bottle water. It say 0 carbs 0 calories but I was consuming too much Splenda and that was stalling me.
I started drinking regular water and within 2 days I had already dropped a whole pound.

I do not like the taste of water but If that is the result... I'll keep right on drinking it. It's not that it tastes bad, just boring. We are all so spoiled drinking beverages that taste delightful when our bodies are screaming for boring water.

    Thanks everyone.

    Re: Thank You!

Glad you found your culprit. I've found that the more water I drink, the more I want. If I start the day with Iced Tea, its hard to make the shift over to water, but once I start on my water that's all I really want.

Agreed. It took a long time for me to consciously drink plain water every day, all day in the beginning. Breakfast was especially tough when I just wanted something sweet like Crystal Light or a Diet Dr Pepper. But I stuck it out through the cravings in the same way that I stuck to the low-carb plan through the initial cravings. Now I actually prefer water to most drinks and only rarely have a decaf coffee or diet coke, (and by rarely we're talking maybe once a week!)

I think that's why so many long time members at ADBB encourage clean inductions including no frankenfoods, no artificial sweeteners and only whole, natural foods with majority of carbs coming from legal veggies. Breaking ALL of our habits really makes this WOE super effective.

          Re: Thank You!

Hey, no one said it was going to be easy! But the effort is certainly rewarding enough to keep me plugging away at the diet. People bring in baked goods to work all the time and they are so close to me and the aroma is maddening but I worked so hard to lose those few lbs nothing can make me weak.

I do have one large cup of weak decaff tea in the a.m. I'm too old to not have a hot cup of something in the a.m. especially in the winter when I need to warm up. I was a coffee drinker for years. Then, I switch to water for the rest of the day. If I nibble on a few nuts, or pork rinds it makes me thirsty and I drink even more water.

This is a nice place to share.

            Re: Thank You!

This may seem crazy, but it completely worked for me.

I LOVE the smell of sweets. Cookies, candy, cakes, chocolate. And warm bread, even coffee which I never developed a taste for...I love the smell.

A couple of weeks ago, the smell of any of these things made me NEED food. But I broke myself by buying scented candles. I light a candle that smells like cookies or bread or coffee and keep them running all day long. Sure enough, when you get used to the smell and it doesn't mean food (mine now means work) the salavation and cravings stopped.

Now I can walk past Starbucks and it reminds me that I have a deadline instead of reminding me of cinabuns and hot chocolate.

              Re: Thank You!

A good idea.... but I'll have to buy a few for home, the only one I have is Apple Pie scent and I'm sure that won't help....LOL

Too bad I can't burn one at work.

How do you put your picture up on top of your post?
