It is a new day for me.
I just went to the grocery store yesterday and I found myself buying things that I have never bought before...i.e: eggbeaters, breakfast sausage, bacon, ranch dressing...all the while at the store on the phone with my boyfriend asking him, "is this legal for Atkins?"
He is on the diet and is doing so great, and my mom is on it, and people at my job are on it...they all keep talking about how well the diet works for them. Everything that I have heard about it makes it sound like a diet that I can actually work with.
I have a few fears though:
    1. I don't really cook a lot or very well or at all...
    2. what will happen to my boobs? I have heard that the first place that women lose weight is in their boobs...does anyone know if this is true? And if it is...is there anything that I can do to prevent the least amount of loss to that area and possibly maximize loss elsewhere on my body?
Now, I realize that that could be construed as a random and possibly irrelevant fear, but I really want to know...

Buy real eggs, not egg beaters!

Lots of Atkins legal foods can be had conveniently. Bird's Eye has broccoli and cauliflower bags in the freezer case called 'Steamfresh' and if you can hit buttons on a microwave, you can cook it. The produce departments are now carrying something similar, our is called 'Broccoli Wokkly' or something like that. You don't need to cook to make salads, meats can be tossed in a pan and cooked, 'deviled eggs' can be had simply by cutting a boiled egg in half and spooning mayo on the half. There are canned legal vegetables like green beans, etc.

I understand caring about your bustline. Reality is, those are parts of your body basically made from fat. Your body will burn fat from all over, and you really can't influence it. Working out your upper body can keep them lifted and once the fat in the ribcage area is largely gone, what breast is left will be more prominent than it would have been when there was fat all around. But there will likely be less overall size.

But listen, when you get a few days into the eating plan, all sorts of marvelous things happen. Your head clears. Your energy soars, most of us find out complexion even improves. It is worth a few inches of boobage!

I think a lot of us aren't that great cooks, but that's one of the great things about atkins, because there are lots of things that you can prepare simply. everyone can make salads, anyone can make eggs any number of ways, grilling and broiling are very simple, stir-frying vegetables, and who knows, you may actually learn a few things along the way. I was a hopeless 20-something male, and atkins really gave me an appreciation for my food and paying attention to the quality of it, and where I buy it and how I prepare it. You might find a new skill or love!
bottom line : being an amateur or even bad "cook" shouldn't be an impediment to your success

Before Atkins I wasn't a great cook either. Now, not only am I good, I actually enjoy it! I used to eat so much fast food that I didn't really "need" to know how to cook, and it showed in my waistline.
After reading labels (in horror), I realized that the only way I was going to be able to eat legally was if I prepared meals myself. What I found is that I love knowing what goes into my body and I love experimenting and "tweaking" recipes to my taste. Don't stress about it. Start with meals like omelettes and salads. There are tons of recipes on this forum, many of which are quick and easy.
As for the bustline, well, I went from a C-cup to a B-cup. Although it wasn't the first place to go, I did shrink there eventually. But trust me, everything in that area looks MUCH nicer without all the fat (I think so and my b/f wholeheartedly agrees). I believe that I am now have the bust size that I was supposed to have in the first place and don't really give it a second thought. I'm happy with me and that's a first.
Stick with it. It's worth it. Best of luck!
