I started on the Atkins Diet last Tuesday. By Saturday I had lost 7lbs and had 100% ketones when I tessted so it is working. It's great to lose a bit of weight right when you start. I can see no visible difference yet but will stick with the programme. I aim to lose 20lbs by Christmas and 40lbs by Srping as I am 40lbs over my goal weight. In addition to following the diet I am walking between 4-10 miles a day to speed up my metabolism and that really seems to help.
My diet has been pretty much high protein for about 20 years as that suits me but I have in the past had some potatoes and pasta and the odd glass of wine in the evening. Cutting those carbs out has really kick started this programme for me.
The beauty of the high protein diet is that I never feel hungry and feel so energized. As well as my walking regime I have tackled jobs in the garden that I have been meaning to do for months, chopping up fallen branches into firewood, cleaning the pool, mowing the lawn ,weeding etc. I have a sedentary job at a desk for nine hours but before and after work I keep myself really active now.
Looking forward to more pounds coming off in the weeks to come.
