  • New to Atkins

Hello all. I started Atkins on Sept. 8th. Originally I decided to try it because I have always heard that the "weight just melts off", and my brother is getting married soon. Well i am a little disgusted as I've only lost 7 lbs so far. I am just one of those people who will never lose weight I assume. None the less I am sticking with it. I am following the diet strictly and RARELY hit 20 grams of carbs. I don't usually post, but I wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone had any suggestions that might help things along. BTW I am a 36 year old female, married 12 years, and have a 9 year old daughter and 10 year old son.

hi, we're at about the same weight and situation so i thought i'd reply real quick. i've only lost 15 lbs so far and stayed at this weight for a while now but the one thing i've noticed is my inches have changed. my body is reshaping from exercise though the scale stays the same. you may want to keep track of your measurements to keep you motivated when the scale won't budge. it helps me. hope it helps you.

Maybe you're not eating enough. You say you seldom eat 20 carbs but that's not always a good thing. I hit a plateau during my 2nd month on Atkins but when I moved up to Rung 1, more veggies, I started losing again. Also you may be getting too much salt which will make you retain water. Hope this helps. Good luck and don't give up. It will come off soon.

Don't get discouraged! Are you exercising? Sometimes things like diet soda or cheese cause people to lose more slowly. Make sure you drink enough water, also ... that is key. Check in here more often; the support and advice you get here is invaluable. Signing up for challenges (say, the Water Challenge) forces you to stay on point because you have to log in regularly ... it also makes the program more fun Hang in there ... you've lost 7 lbs. ... I say, good for you!

Thank you all for your replies. I drink tons of water. I have been wondering if I'm eating enough some days so maybe I'll mix it up a bit and eat more carbs one day and see. I have been walking too. I feel like I'm doing everything right, that is why I have been discouraged.

I am such a start and stall loser and I know how frustrating that can be. I havent lost a pound yet this month but I know that the losses will come. I always have a big loss after a big stall and I am sure its coming for you too. I also had a very hard time during weeks 3-5 which is about where you are now. Hang in there, keep doing everything right and you will see results! Are you measuring?
