  • New to this board!

    Hi, my name is Kim and I am a 20 y/o female from Southern California. I started Atkins yesterday and I am hoping to lose around 80 lbs. I am 5'9" and 233 lbs. I have been heavy throughout my entire life thus far, so the thought of being thin overwhelms me; which is why I think so many diets have failed in the past. Myself nor anyone else has ever seen me thin. I am SO OVER being in this body. I am a slave to carbohydrates, which is why I chose the Atkins diet.

    So far, only two days on this diet, I have already experienced withdrawl symptoms. This morning I woke up shaky, weak and dizzy. Figured it was my blood sugar taking a dive, so I drank a diet coke and immediately felt better. But no moer for the week!

    I am going to weigh in once a week. Usually I jump on the scale every day but not this time. Wish me luck...

    PS: I have been reading the success stories and looking at before/after pictures like crazy! You guys are all so much of an inspiration to me!

    Welcome Kim! and good luck! You WILL get plenty of support here. What you experienced is detoxing from sugar and will disappear. Good Luck!

      Hi Kim, Another thing you could have experienced is a "Caffeine headache" If you are use to drinking Soda and then suddenly stop, you could have those symptoms.

        Are you eating enough food? You should be eating every 4 to 5 waking hours to keep your blood sugar level up. Shakiness is a sign of low blood sugar! Try snacking on cheese or some other allowed food before you go to bed. Atkins isn't a starvation diet so make sure you are getting enough calories and drink lots of water. Let us know how you're doing.

          Thanks so much everyone. I've actually been eating enough but I guess I need more veggies! No headaches or shakes since then. I feel MUCH better today and it is slowly becoming more easier!

                Thanks! It means alot.

                Weighed myself this morning (Induction Day 4) and I've lost 4.6 lbs . I think I am going to weigh myself every four days instead of once a week to keep motivated

                  Is it strange that the only carb that I am totally craving (and have been since day one) is MILK? You can wave all the sugar and bread in my face that you want but PLEASE don't show me the milk! Lol. Fat free milk was a big part of my day but now I have been saying no to it. It's hard lol...

                    I miss milk like crazy too. I used to drink 2 or 3 cups a day. Now whenever i put milk in my kids cereal i smell the milk, weird huh lol.

                        Kim: May I suggest something for this. I take liquid Ginseng Extract it gives you a boost and I believe the calories are very low. I take two a day.
