    Hi there! I'm new on this forum. I just joined and I have no clue about posting rules, etc...

    Here are my stats:

    5' 7"

    Current/Starting Weight: 167 lbs
    Goal Weight: 130 lbs
    Age: 33
    BMI: 26

    After doing an hour on the treadmill (4 miles) 4-5 times a week for a month, I became discouraged b/c I was not losing weight. I decided to go radical and do Atkins. Today is my first day. Hopefully, it will work. I would love it if you have any good advice. I'm assuming my induction period will be several months.

    My question is... can we have lemonade with Splenda, diet Coke and sugar-free gum during the induction period?

    Also, is broccoli acceptable?

    Hi there and welcome! A lot of people find their weight loss stalls with any kind of artificial sweetener, including Splenda (even though it's allowed, technically speaking); forgot anything sweetned with aspartame (like Diet Coke; Diet Rite, on the other hand, has Splenda in it); ditch the sugar-free gum.

    Do you have the 2002 version of the Atkins book? That's the version used here.

    Broccoli is good ... just watch the portions; you can have one cup per day if your salad greens don't exceed two cups.

    I've only been here a couple of months myself ... the more experienced Atkineers can give you better info, I'm sure!
