  • Another noob here!

Wow, this board is full of incredibly inspirational individuals! I'm glad to have found this community.

I started Induction on Sunday, 10/5/2008, so I am definitely a newbie to the Atkins WOE. I am trying the diet on the advice of my Nutritionist. I begged him to "make me skinny for my wedding", but really, at 31, I am sick of being "slightly" overweight (5'8" 160-170 lbs) and want to address this now, before I have kids and get older and all metabolic heck breaks loose. Furthermore, my father's history of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. is not something I want to inherit.

Thanks for creating this wonderful and supportive community, I look forward to learning and shrinking with all of you.

            Re: Another noob here!

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome!

Sugarsack, thanks for the encouragement! It's true, I see such a wide variety of goal weights here, which is cool, because it does make me examine my motivations, ask myself...what's realistic, what's healthy, and why x number of pounds? Ultimately, my goal is based on 1)looking a certain way (hence, 18% body fat is more important than 135 lbs. 135-145 would be just fine if 18% were achieved.) and 2)feeling a certain way--much more energetic, fewer joint problems, clothes fitting better, less depression and anxiety.

I like that this board doesn't promote a "one size fits all" mindset when it comes to weight.

Oh, and yes, I do have the most incredible nutritionist. He made me read the whole book before starting, and he's really helping me with the appropriate supplementation.
