  • Newbie Here!

Hello everyone! I started induction on 10-6 and I'd like to ideally lose 65 pounds but realistically, I would probably be happy to lose 40 and keep it off. ha ha Due to some physical injuries sustained in a car accident, I've gained a lot of weight in the last 20 months and physical activity is a bit limited as I have re-injured several times while trying to get fit and in general, I deal with pain daily. So basically, since my workouts are somewhat limited, I'm looking to make a change in my diet as well. I also am a huge carb lover so that doesn't help with the weight issues that I have now and also doesn't make this diet an easy one to follow! ha ha I am already craving pasta and sweets. I've seen some great recipes to fix my sweet tooth and now just need to find something for the pasta (maybe with spaghetti squash?).

My mother did Atkins and lost 75 pounds so I'm looking forward to results. Also, I am going to be getting married and want to get back down to a slimmer figure before I have to fit into that dress. I have a lot of curves (even when I was smaller) so really it's more about how my body looks and being comfortable in my own skin than it is about the number on the scale. I'm very petite as well so I don't want to end up looking like a stick figure! lol

There is also a history of obesity and diabetes in my family so I really want to stay away from that!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I'm looking forward to this forum!

Welcome. Nice to have you here.
I do spaghetti squash once in a while. It good to mix with some tomato sauce and cheese (but watch those carbs)

Hi there Sam'sWoman! I am in the same boat with you as far as limited movement. I don't have a car accident to blame though, lol... I'm haveing surgery on my right knee on November 6th and I hurt my back over this past weekend. I have two bad hips (broke one once and fractured the growth plate in the other) Both my knees are bad (and one needs major surgery). And the kicker...I'm only 26 (just turned, lol).

Anyhow, I am happy that you are here. The people here are so helpfull and friendly so don't ever not ask a question because they'll give you the answer.

I can't wait to see you shrink, lol.

        Re: Newbie Here!

        Thanks for the warm welcome!

lol I am 26 as well but my b-day is in 2 weeks. Yes, it is sort of crazy to be this young and have so many physical limitations... sometimes I feel like an old woman! ha ha I am slowly working up to physical activity again and really love yoga and pilates, although, I can't do everything becuase of some of my injuries (some with hips as well) and have to modify some of the poses but it's less painful than when I had a trainer at the gym. My neurologist has also finally cleared me to try to begin golfing again so that's an exciting next step. And I think once I start to drop some weight it will probably help as well.

I was having a HUGE sweet tooth craving last night but just ignored it and distracted myself by talking on the phone and finally going to bed. I'm trying to just outlast my carb/sugar cravings, especially since it's only day 5 for me right now! lol

          Re: Newbie Here!

I've read that those carb cravings go away...and though I don't crave bread or pasta, I still can't walk by trail mix (with m&m's) or cakes or even fruit in the stores without my brain freaking out just a bit, lol.

I agree with you about the feeling old part. I really do feel old for so many reasons. One I got married and started a family at 17 years old. Two, I look older because of my weight, and three all these problems I have. But this next year is going to be great, I can feel it =)

There are two great things that have happend on my less than a month on Atkins. One I can feel my PCOS getting better and two I don't have head aches any more. It is great to wake up without head aches. The first morning I woke up without one I couldn't figaur out what was wrong with me. I thought there is something differant, what is going on. So I was taking my shower and I got out and it was like "BAM" you're head doesn't hurt silly! I was so excited! I have loads more energy (which sort of sucks now because I can't do much with it, lol). But all in all this is great!

So here is to you and I and everyone else getting healthy, feeling younger and living younger =)
