  • New Girl In Town

    Morning to all,
Let’s see if I can make this readable and enjoyable at the same time.
I’ve battled my weight for most of my sixty-two years. Like most of us, I’ve been way down (108-117 lbs.) and way up. I’m currently at my heavyest and that is 270 lbs.!
The last 100 lbs. I have gained over the past four years.
Four years ago I was diagnoised with a neuralogial disorder called RSD/CRPS…to put it mildly, it won’t kill me but there are days that I feel like I am going to die with the pain. I won’t begin to go there right now.
The medications I have been on, and not being able to walk hardly at all (I’ve been in a wheelchair and on a walker) has helped contribute to this weight gain. Finally the Dr.s have my medications straight and I am in remission for the time being. Needless to say, I want to jump right in and get going.
Not being able to drive, to exercise, get out and go, well it leaves most people doing one thing…eating..I did!!!
Now I am able to drive a bit, get around a little, so I want to start the ball rolling.
My husband is going to join me in this life changing way of eating. He is a keeper for sure.
Right now I am sick with a very bad cold. The plan is to start as soon as I can get to the grocery store. I'm hoping that will be by this Friday or Saturday at the latest. Then we begin.
I am so happy to have found a site like this. I do know that Atkins works, many years ago, wow…31 to be exact I went on Atkins. I weighed in then at 189 ¾ lbs. That was in Feb. By Mothers Day in May I was down to 117 lbs. and held that weight for over a year…then you know how the story goes…I went off and started gaining but was some how able to keep myself below 150 for many years.
Ok, enough about all of that, this is becoming a Novel.
I am happily married to the world’s best man.
We have four adult children and 12 grandchildren.
I count myself blessed more than I ever dreamt I could be and I am so thankful for all that I have.
This is but another challenge in my life and with Gods help and my family and this board of fine folks; I will begin this journey on a high note.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this lengthy letter.
    Have a wonderful week.
I will post again when I being day ONE..
GOD help me, I love Sugar way too much!

Good morning to you Hubbard and welcome. I would like to make a suggestion. Wait to start induction until you are over your cold. Induction flu will hit about day 3 or 4 and believe me you don't already want to be sick. Also some cold medicines have sugar in them and can affect your induction. Best of luck to you.

Thank you so much for the kind words, and advice...Never thought about the cold meds. with sugar..you are right!
Nothing worse then starting something, and fighting with it right off the bat....
I thought I was up for this in my mind ...However,I find myself starting to feel guilty about how I let myself get this way...trying not to go there because I know that won't help at all.
My hubby got me a wonderful excer. bike..and I feel I can do that. Not able to do any kind of excer. with me hitting my foot (like just walking). So, the bike should help. Only thing is that I can only do about 5 mins. at one time, but then I think, if I can do that 5-6 X's daily, then maybe I can build up to 10 mins, etc.
      One day at a time...
Again, thanks for the kind words.
Right now I am searching for ATKINS food that will help me with my love of SUGAR.
      Have a great day.

there you are! see, now you're an ADBB Amateur!

no point feeling bad or guilty about the past. shoot, this would be a rather depressing place if we all felt guilty because ... well... we were/are at the same place you are.... overweight needing to be healthy. i can't wait to see how you progress! and how lucky you are to have your dh joining you in your journey!

as far as your biking goes, we certainly don't expect you get on it the first time and do 10 miles. things will progress as you begin to lose weight and become stronger.
