  • Hello from Chemgirl

    Hello everyone,

I've been lurking since before I started Induction and during, and I've finally decided to start posting.

I'm 26, 5'5", and started at 214 pounds. I put on a significant amount of weight during graduate school, and haven't been able to keep it off. I did WW last year and lost 25 pounds, and then regained it when I stopped doing the program. A friend of mine has been encouraging me to try Atkins, because of her success with this WOE.

Today is my last day of Induction, and its been a pretty pleasant experience, not nearly as "bad" as I envisioned it to be. The only thing I really miss is sushi which used to be one of my favorite foods.

I'm looking forward to weighing/measuring tomorrow, and also starting OWL.

ETA: My goal weight is 160, which I hope to reach by this time next year.

Hi Chemgirl and welcome. Congratulations on completing induction. I think that you will be very happy with your decision to embrace the Atkins way of life. There will be some foods that you miss, but you can replace them with new and healthy ones. Before you know it, you won't miss them at all. Best of luck to you.

I haven't found a *replacement* for sushi... but you *can* still have the raw fishie business, and at the end of OWL, most people should be able to eat it sparingly, especially if it's made with wild rice instead of sushi rice... Can you tell that I miss it too?

COngrats on finishing up induction - I hope you weighed before as well, then you'll know how much you lost during... it helps with some form of calculation about how easy it is for you to lose overall, but I somewhat forget what it's completely about.

Welcome to I think you have set a pretty realistic goal for yourself, and i think you will be below 160 before this time next year if you stick with the plan!! If you don't it's nothing to be discouraged about, I'm sure you will see how good you feel on this WOE and want to stick with it regardless!

I have 5 more days of Induction then I will be moving onto OWL as well so I can have more food choices.

        Good luck to you.

I think your talking about the metabolic resistance...if you lose so much weight during the 2 weeks of induction it will help you find out how resistant your metabolism is to this WOE and will give you a good idea of how to better follow the program during OWL. I don't have my book with me otherwise I would post the table that is in there.

Yes, that's it. I was always too excited to be losing weight to bother trying to figure out how resistant I was. I thought if I had my hopes up then stalled I would be really bummed.
