  • 100+ to lose, I need support!

Hello! I am new (obviously) and have been lurking here for a bit. You guys are all so supportive. I have 100 or so pounds to lose and it is a bit daunting. I weighed around 175 all through high school up until i turned 22. The past four years I have really gotten out of control. So here I am, 26 years old and I weigh 250! Jeez. I just do not feel comfortable. I remember how fat I always felt at 175! Ha. I WISH I was there now. 30 pounds to lose was beyond me then, look where I am now. So 2 years ago, after my father passed away, I got strict and went on a low carb *diet* (i know). I hadn't read DANDR, just kind of made it up as I went. I lost 30 pounds and kept it off for a year until my old eating habits crept back up on me. So here I am. I am determined to change my ways permanently this time. I have a fantastic boyfriend and am very happy for the first time in a long time. The only thing I am dissatisfied with is my weight. Losing 100 lbs justs seems like an insurmountable task. So I come here and read all your posts and it helps a lot. Thanks so much for being here!

Congratulations on your weight loss so far and welcome to the board! I think you have a similar story to the rest of us here, and I am just glad we are around to see your success story. Again I am glad you found the board, and I think you might like the Century Club. It's the most supportive board here IMHO.

You lose 100 pounds the same way you lose 30 pounds. One pound at a time! You can do it. There's lots of support here! :nod

            HI Penelope!!

When I started a year ago, I had 140 pounds to lose. It did seem unreal that I could lose that much. I think what helped me was taking small baby steps of 10 pounds at a time. I didn't dwell on the big picture. As I achieved each 10-pound loss, I gained more confidence that I could do it.

I hope that you have now read the book. I think a big difference in the ones who succeed at this WOE is in understanding how it works.

The great part of losing the weight is that you don't have to do it alone. We are all here to support you and encourage you through each and every pound you lose. Make sure you take your measurements also so you can see the inches melt away. Best wishes and welcome!!

              Welcome

Penelope, You have come to the right place. Resolve to eat clean, and miracles will happen for you. It is not suprisiing that you gained weight eating carbs. it happened to all of us.

i have found it helpful not to view this program as a temporary fix you can go off of later. make it a permanent lifestyle and you will lose the weight. it matters not where you are starting from, just that you started.

              good luck to you! :hug

When I started I was right about where you are. I weighed 250 lbs. and was very sure I'd never lose it all.

Start with mini goals, instead of looking at the overall picture. Just one pound at a time and you'll def. succeed!!

                Come join the TDL challenge!
                Name: Amber
                Gender: Female
                Mini Goal: 275

Fell off the wagon in May of 2005 after losing 65 lbs. I'm back on the wagon 01/22/07.

Hi! I also have more than 100 pounds to loose. I was so shocked when this WOE actually started working! You can do it and the time will go by faster than you think. I just wish I would have found Atkins when I was your age!!! I am glad to hear that you have a good support person in your boyfriend, that will definately help too.
