Hi all,
I'm normally a really private person, but I guess that's contributed to my
current weight problem.
I'm 44 and have been overweight/obese half my life and I'm tired of it. I want to be and feel healthy again, and I know it will take some support from family and people I don't even know who have walked the road before me.
My highest weight was 356 and now I'm "down" to 334. I'm Type II diabetic and have edema in my ankle which two separate family doctors assured me will return to normal when I lose weight, as will the diabetes.
Today is the first day of this new way of life, and I'm cautiously excited. I've read through many of the posts and feel this is right for me. The weekend was one last carb blast, and I feel like crap...I know I'm carb sensitive because I'd always choose bread over sweets.
Anyway, my mini goal is to get out of the 300s and my long-term goal is to reach 130-140. The fact that many people have accomplished this and more in about a year amazes me.
Thanks for inviting me, Tom. I'll see the rest of you on the boards, then.
Shelley
