  • New member (I have a couple of questions)

Hi, let me first introduce myself. I'm Marix, a 24 year old (male) from South-Eastern Europe. I picked up some bad eating habits as a student, too much beer, hamburgers and chocolate. Even though my weight has always fluctuated, I had never really had any weight problems until 3 years ago when I gained 50 pounds in one year. Since then I've been triyng to lose them, but had no luck.

I did read the book before I started the diet, I've also been reading this board, taking supplements and using Fitday since day one.

My first question has to do with the supplements. I'm kinda scared of pills, and there are a lot of things I'm taking at the moment. So, is this too much?

    - Multivitamin - 100% of the RDA of most vitamins and with an average of 30% of RDA of most minerals
    - Vitamin B complex
    - Chrome - started with 400mcg, now 200mcg
    - Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc and vitamin A pill which contains 33% of RDA of each
    - Omega 3- 2.5 ml a day

As I said, I'm not used to taking pills, but this is what I think Dr. Atkins recommended in the book. Have I misinterpreted him or am I doing OK?

My second question is if I'm eating too little. My calorie intake is about 1400 per day, and my BMR is about 2000-2200. Should I eat more even though I'm not really hungry?

I would appreciate if I could get answers on these questions from those who have more experience.

BTW, it's day 12 and I have already lost 14 pounds. My weight goal is 85-90 kilograms, for which I have to lose 40 to 50 more pounds.

Hi! 1400 is on the low end, but not low enough to impact your metabolism most likely. Don't go below that and you should be okay.

Your vitamin regimen is a good start. As you educate yourself about what your body might need, you might tweak it, but you don't have to do everything all at once. Most people can use extra vitamin C and as you won't be eating any C rich fruits for a while, consider adding those.

But I think you are off to a good program!

Momtomany1, thanks for the fast response. I'll add vitamin C to my diet.

BTW, fruits are the only thing I really miss so far. I used to eat a couple of pounds of fruit a day (it's really cheap and tasty in my country). Still, I comfort myself with the fact that I can have them in the following phases.

      Thanks again.
