  • Newbie From Oakland!!

    Hi there! I am 33 year old woman from Oakland CA and started the Atkins diet on October 28th. I don't know how many pounds I have lost as I am too scared to weigh myself. Although I do know I have lost weight because i can see it and other people have commented. I am hoping to gain some advice about other recipes as I am just eating fish, eggs, meat and cheese, chicken, onions, peppers, cilantro, spinach and mushrooms! SO if you have any suggestions please let me know!! Also....I have noticed some real benefits like I don't have gas anymore since cutting out the sugar! Has anyone else had that effect!

    Hello Athenamo! Ditto on the fear of scales. I started my journey on Sept. 30th ... I also do not know how much weight I've dropped. But I know I've dropped (1) size and that's enough to keep me motivated. I've also noticed that I don't have gas pains like before. (I'm much more comfortable now) Good luck to you and keep us updated on your progress.

      Thanks for the response! I have always had a fear of scales and I figure when the time is right (and I think I will know when that is, and I feel good enough) I will get on the scale..... I heart atkins so much!!!! I love it! of course it has only been 9 days but I think it is amazing. Any tips or tricks you have found that are helpful?

        Again, ditto on the scale comment. Tips I've learned along the way ... many of them .... but probably most importantly is to prepare my shopping list and menu and always keep legal snacks handy. Because if I don't prepare I will eat anything in my way. Also, drink lots and lots of water. Ahh...... and when grocery shopping read ALL the labels for hidden sugars.

        Do you use fitday? It's a great way to keep track of what you eat. In the beginning I was using it everyday ... I've recently started to slack off and not use it. But I find it helps me make wiser decisions in food selections.

        I could go on and on about everything I've learned on here ... as I mentioned before, come here often and ask questions everybody is so helpful.

          THANKS Gabriella and congratulations on your success! I have used fit day a bit but kinda slacked off Also, I am always looking for hidden sugars now, they are EVERYWHERE!! I am so much more aware of what is in food now !
