  • Hello from down da bayou

Hi all Just wanted to introduce myself a little to get started. I live in a little place named Cut Off Louisiana and I am constantly surrounded by great food. I love to cook and eat so my weight gain is not surprising.

I am new here but have done Atkins several (10) years ago and lost quite a bit of weight (+- 30lbs) but put it all plus more back on, so I am starting fresh. My overall goal is to be below 200lbs and maintain it. I am currently 255 (morning weight). I have also been diagnosed as pre-diabetic and my blood sugar has been running 170-200 so I really need to get that back under control. I was on metformin a couple of years ago but quit taking it. Anyway after years of abuse my body is telling me to get my act together. I am a 41yo male and about 6'0 tall and fairly heavily muscled yet alot of it has gotten really flabby. .
anyway enough about me. I just wanted to post my food log so maybe someone could look it over and offer feedback.
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
Welcome. I took the liberty and reviewed your menu . In my opinion your fat intake is too low and your protein intake is too high. Your ratios should be somewhere close to Fat: 65% Protein 30% and Carbs:5% - Remember Atkins is a high fat diet, not a high protein diet.

        I agree Gabriella,
I really don't think the fitday list is exactly accurate in terms of fat content because I am eating more fat than it shows. For example I cooked the chicken in olive oil and wrapped in bacon. I did not eat the bacon so I did not show it I also smothered the steak in butter but it is not really reflecting the cooking methods. I guessed on the low side as to how much fat I really ate because I really did not know since I primarily cook with the fat.
