Hello All! My name is Jerod and I have been on Atkins for 2 weeks now. I started at a weight of 320 lbs. In the first week I lost 18 lbs. I am a little discouraged though, because I haven't lost anything this week, and the only "cheat" i had was a third of a cup of orange pop lol.

Re: Hello!
Jerod………Come on now buddy……Let’s put this into perspective, shall we?
DUDE YOU LOST 18 LBS. IN ONE WEEK!!!!!
That is absolutely freaking AWESOME!! So you haven’t lost anything this week….. You are almost out of the 300’s!!
Did that help any? On a different note, have you done any type of cardio or weight training? If not, you should add that into your regimen. The quicker you add, at least, some cardio, the faster your weight loss will go. I started this weight loss thing up around 370 and now after 10 months (only on Atkins for 4 months), I am knocking on the door of the 200’s (I am at 308 right now).
So, get excited, do something physical on a consistent basis AND . . . . lay off the orange pop : ^ )
Regards,
Minofex!

Re: Hello!
Please don't get discouraged!
I gained my second week! You body is constantly adjusting! it will all even out in the end. Some weeks I may lose no pounds! but lost a few inch's instead. The tape is your best friend too! Some weeks pounds, some weeks inch's, some weeks both, and some weeks are adjustments.
And looking for instant gratification will only lead to fustration!
You didn't get to your current weight over night!
If after 6 or 8 weeks into this way of life, we notice a stall: We will examine your daily diet, Make sure your doing some slooooow but steady exercise, make sure you are taking your suppliments and drinking your water.
P.S. Don't be your own worst enemy! clean out the kitchen of the foods and drinks you can't have!Male/46

Re: Hello!
Hi Jerod
Wow, what a great first week you had! One of the things you will learn on this journey is that the weight does not come off in a linear fashion. I wish that it did, but it doesn't. I lost 5 pounds during my first week of Induction, and only 2 during the second week. In fact, I only averaged a loss of between 1 and 2 pounds a week. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but those pounds surely do add up!
It is best to try to look upon this journey as a lifestyle change, and not a race. I know... easier said, than done.
Also, you may be experiencing something we refer to as PISS (Post Induction Stall Syndrome). Some of us found that our weight loss slowed dramatically after completing our Induction, even though we were eating the exact same foods. The way that I (and many of us) broke thought it, was to go ahead and move onto OWL, Rung 1 (more veggies). The first week I did that, my losses started right up again. How about it - do you eat veggies? Have you thought about moving to Rung 1? It just so happens that I will be running the 4th Semi Annual Veggie Challenge next week, and sign up for it is this week. There is a link in my signature to the challenge, if you decide to go for it.
Also, we have a "Review My Menu" forum here, where you can post exactly what you eat and people can comment on it. You are doing a fantastic job - keep up your great work!
Watch us participate in the Veggie Challenge!

Re: Hello!
Wow!!! You are all so positive and encouraging! I'll stick with it! I guess being discouraged after losing 18lbs is a little silly lol. Thanks for putting it into perspective. I am going to be adding some stationery biking to my days pretty soon. I am going to rexexamine the OWL phase today, and start on rung 1. I'll let y'all know how it goes. Thanks for your support!!JG1978
