Hello all! My name is Martha and I just started Atkins this past Tuesday, November 4th and have lost 2 pounds in 3 days. I am very fortunate to have a trainer as I won a radio contest and I am competing against 6 other people to lose the most body fat. The contest ends the end of December. I am down around 9 since we started. We started the last week in September.
I have been really working hard to lose weight and it just wasn't coming off the way I felt it should for all the hard work. I mean I gave up fast food, beer, candy/sweets and was working with a personal trainer for 5 days a week! Why was I only losing a pound here and a pound there and then one week gain a pound.
I went to Barnes and Noble this past weekend and picked up the Atkins book and couldn't put it down. I sat down and read for an hour and half and then bought the book. I thought I would give it a try.
Before I started this I was told by my Dr. that i am border line diabetic and that after taking the gluten test that i was border line gluten free.
I have been keeping a food log since the beginning of September and my carb intakes varied from: 100 - 220 per day and my sugar intake was really high. I was eating good all good foods and grains and fruits and veggies etc. After being on Atkins for only 3 days I am feeling a little slugish which sounds like one of the side effects and I have headaches on and off. I am hoping this way of life will work for me, I have a good feeling this is what my body needs.
I am anxious to check out the rest of the site and get to know you all.
Thanks and have a great weekend everyone!
