  • Induction phase 4th day....

    Hi,
I am a guy in his late 30's 6"tall, and 200lbs, when I was in 20ish I was very active doing at least 1.5 hours hard martial arts activity everyday.....
now in my 30's, struggling with post grad education and work,,,,dont have time as before........also noticed i have no energy, everytime I wake up in the morning I feel tired,,,,like I am sick,,,, and I get really tired in the first hour of awakeness!!! couldn't stand late awake all nights and feel nothing........well some are related to age,........but when I wanted to take shower looking at myself in the mirror gave me some clue...........some lovehandles,,, the former semi-shaped six packs in 20's changed to one big pack! hanging far beyond my waist............ i tried some fat losing !!! pills, the most effective was hydroxycut hardcore which I lost 15 lbs using it ,,,,but couldnt continue as you are in a panic/axiety/heart racing all day as it contents the caffein of 8-10 coffees a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recall i began atkins 3-4 years ago but didnt follow it religously and I was out of my way in the 6-7 th day......

This time I am serious I am in the 4 th day of my induction phase,,,,,,, lots of cravings, bad mouth taste, positive keton urine test (yellow changed to the middle shade of purple, wonder if it gets darker or not, and I feel much better now...............

I am busy now doing some project , but in a month period I will also add daily physical activity to it/or yoga as I used to do.

    wish you the best,,,,
my target is losing 25-30 lbs

I am standing and fighting ....lets do it together.
    Cheers

    Hey there Babak, wecome aboard!
Good for you for coming back to Atkins... a far healthier way to lose weight than with fat blocking pills!
Don't worry about feeling under par. That's normal in the first few days. We call it induction flu and it's just your body weaning itself off those large quantities of carbs. It should pass in a few days and you'll begin to feel wonderful and energised.

The sooner you add in that yoga (or other physical activity), the better. It makes a huge difference to the speed and effectiveness of the programme and is a great investment in good health.

Post lots and keep us updated. We're behind you 100%!

Hear, hear! I echo her comments. We are with you AND you have to add that physical activity relatively soon.

When I started Atkins, I was able to lose 23 lbs. during induction because I did a high amount of cardio with some weight training. The weight training was not as heavy for me because I had/have a higher amount of fat to lose along with weight.

You on the other hand may want to add the weight-training piece in early on.

I wish you continued success and know you will be in the 160's in no time!!

        Hey Babak!

What martial art did (or do you currently) practice? I also do martial arts (I'm in one class or another at least five times a week).

Good for you for choosing to make a real change that's good for you than hurt yourself with those pills!

Congrats on making it this far!

I'm about a week ahead of you, and right about at the same time as you, I had no energy and wanted to sleep, plus my stomach felt bloated, as if I'd eaten way too much food and couldn't get rid of it.

By the 7th day, everything returned to normal.

          Good luck!

            Re: Induction phase 4th day....

            Hi,
Thanks sally for your warm welcome, looking at photo shows you did a great job
As you and Minofex1 said, I believe I have to add some regular physical activity to my schedule, well, getting one good habit a day,,today my fourth day I stopped taking spartame "coke zero" contained drinks, also I started on 6 glasses of water a day, as in the previous days i didn't take even one glass!!! today 4 unitl now, and although i am not thirsty, but i will follow drinking water habit,,,,,,,,,,the only difference is the shadow of keton stix is lighter, ,,maybe now urine is more dilute.......... anyways

And to jackie, skeptika23, go for it girl, martial arts is all good, no matter what kind, I started out with karate (black belt), having some months of kung fu, and boxing,,,and then shifted to judo (black b., practicing for ten years),,,,,,,,,,

shelley , congradulations keep going girl, I am after you, dont give up.

my biggest challenge the first few days was vegetables,,,,, I love vegetables and salads, but I have to eat a specific amount of salad each day (< 3 cups) , and not all the kinds (no carrots! yet).........so 3 cups a day is nothing for me, as I used to take 20 cups per portion :;;; so eating a big piece of steak, or some oven toasted shrimps or fried chicken breast without bread crumbs,,and a small portion of salad,,, with some big chunk of cheese (mozzarel.. or guad,,,or...) ( I usually dont eat cheese that much, so I am eating 20 times of my usual cheese intake).................. and no bread! no rice! no Pasta! hm,,,sure
            ,
but I am still hungry...................... ah,,,, the plate looks so small,,,,,anyways, todays craving was much less...............

three bad things to resolve in near future,,,,,,,
one is for sure, the other two not sure if I would........
I will start some sports in the coming week or two weeks..so this would be resolved.....
the two bad ones, which I wouldnt give up! are 1-I am still taking ordinary coffee and tea, as I can't really do my activity without caffeine, I will lose all my energy..........
2-I started taking those hydroxycut hardcore pills again.......the first time I used them I lost 15 lbs in ten days............and I felt bad ,heart racing ,..... the whole time.........

            with you the best
            Babak
