  • New to the Site, Not new to Atkins!

    Hi everyone!

I just joined this site in hopes for some help.

I have been doing Atkins for about 6 weeks now. The first four weeks were successful and wonderful, 17 pounds dropped.

Then I blew it for a whole week and two weekends (due to not preparing meals for my diet and grabbing something easy). I did great last week until the weekend when I went hunting and ate out of control.

The scale has moved up 5 pounds and I am hating myself for it.

My other question is does everyone stick to their low carb lifestyle every day? How do you do it?

I think that I am missing things in my diet (out of habit and lifestyle, not cravings). Any ideas? Help! I don't want to fail again.

Let's make it a great day!

Welcome to ADBB! It's an incredibly supportive and helpful resource, you'll be glad you joined!

I am about 97% successful at sticking to the plan every day, so yes, I don't have "cheat days" or whatever. See, I'm changing my ways for good, so there *is* no going back to the old ways. This isn't a diet - it's a lifestyle change forever!

If you approach it that way - it's easier to keep on the relatively straight and narrow. Also, pre-prepping and planning meals as I think you already know is a key to success - you can't always pre-prep but you CAN plan (here's one fast-food option - McDonald's Big Mac, plain, toss the bun, and a side salad). I'm probably going to have more carbs than I have been on Thanksgiving due to the nature of that beast, but I'm planning for it.

Make your plan, stick to your plan, and you'll get through!

Hello! Congrats on your loss so far. Do not allow your self to feel guilty. Move on. No one is perfect. I'm on my fourth day and yes it has been very very hard, but I have a specific goal and I realized that I want (need) this thing more than I want the damn donut. Continue with it and good luck!

        Hi Fabulis1,

I'm glad you found this site! Welcome!

There are so many factors that play in to the choices we make as far as eating goes. You were doing great for several weeks & saw amazing results - and then SOMETHING happened ... there was some event or condition that tripped you up to allow you to pull away for over a week. Do you know what it was? Buddy, if you can figure THAT out you've got it made!

Don't hate yourself - learn from it instead. It's done, you did it - now analyze the situation and move on!

You asked if others stick to their lo-carb lifestyle every day - YES, I do. When I don't, I find that cravings return and it's too easy to get totally derailed. That's why my signature reads "starting again" - believe me when I say I know from personal experience how effortless it can be to give in to the impulses that got you in this state in first place!

The next time you feel pulled towards making the wrong choices LOG IN and post something, or read what others are doing, etc. I have found that doing so really helps me to get focused again. You should really consider starting a journal in Journal Chats so that you can post what is going on in your very own diary. Dump it all out there & then you will see the responses, advice, support, etc. that everyone that posts to this site has to offer. That may be your missing link!

Again, welcome to this site and keep on keeping on with your effort!
