    Hello all

    I started Atkins 4 days ago. Needless to say I am feeling a bit headachy today but pushing through. I have been battling weight ever since I had kids. Oldest is 10 and youngest is 7. I think it is time to get rid of the weight once and for all. Just hope I can stay on track!

        I hear you. Tired of being short and squat. I can't fix the short part - I'll fix the squat part!

        I've been doing this since mid-September and I can tell you it's better than doing the traditional "low calorie high carb" thing I was doing before Atkins.

        When I was limiting myself to 1800 cal/day, I was STARVING all day long, and gained TEN POUNDS.

        Now, I eat 1300-1500 cal a day according to my Fitday (I struggle with eating enough) and I'm hungry at "normal" times, not all the time, and I'm not dying to eat when it's time to eat, either.

        Atkins is awesome!

          I was doing weight watchers for 2 weeks before this and only lost 2 pounds. I have been doing this for 4 days and have lost 3. Go figure! I just worry about cholesterol. Mine is not high, but it is on the high end of normal.

            Have you read the book? Dr. Atkins has some helpful things to say about cholesterol and this diet.

              I did back in 2000, but there has been alot of bad press since then. I am not quitting the diet, but I will be monitoring my cholesterol.

                I strongly recommend you get Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002) - that's the book this board uses and really, chock full very informative stuff for you to consider when following this plan. I'm re-reading it as I'm thinking about my long-term goals right now, actually.

                I bought mine for a buck fifty at a thrift store.
