  • Hello Everyone!

Hello! I recently started Atkin's Low Carb after coming home from a trip overseas. I have been unhappy with my weight for years. Anyway, I got message finally and just knew when I got home it was now or most likely never.
I investigated bypass surgery and was approved but I'd rather be able to eat than be surgiacally altered to lose weight.
I weighed in at the bypass orientation at 300 lbs. wow. eye opener to say the least. One of my biggest problems is beer. I love it! I am also an avid homebrewer. Anyway, it's a trade off I've been reluctant to make in the past but I need to be healthy. I'm tired of pooping out and hiding from going on hikes and buying from the +sized catalog.
So, I started when I returned and so far am doing OK. I am down to 283. I joined a gym in July that I just recently started going to. I guess you can say I eased into that... d'oh!

Anyway, have been reading the stories here and seeing other's progress. Awesome! This a good palce to track my own progress and come for support. I know I'm not alone.

Nice to "meet" all of you!

            Re: Hello Everyone!

            Hi Annie,
I can relate to the loving beer. My love is wine. While wine is acceptable a few rungs from now it is not acceptable in the amounts I like to drink. My husband and I like to share a bottle, and sometimes I add another glass on top of that. I work in a winery, I have friends in the industry and I live in Wine Country. I am surrounded by good wine. AHHHH! I know your challenge will be big being a home brewer because you have a passion and passions are hard to break, or at least keep in check. But you can do it. I can do it. Beer and wine will always be around. No one is going to drink it all while we are bettering ourselves. It will be there when we are ready for it. Cheers!
