  • Yet Another Clueless Noob

Hey, folks, nice to be here and thanks for letting me join.

I found this board by accident when googling what the heck to do with a big bag of wheat protein isolate that someone gave me. Well, I still haven't found that but since this seems to be a huge board, I'm sure it's here somewhere.

In the meantime, I've already winged it by substituting the wheat protein isolate for regular flour in an oatmeal pancakes recipe. The pancakes tasted better with it and I felt better after eating it, so I guess I've found a good thing. I would love to try new but very simple recipes using it, since I'm not much of a cook.

So far, my simple-minded approach to this diet--not having read the book, but I will--has simply been to add steak and chicken and more eggs and cut out potatoes, most pasta and limiting those huge salads I used to live on. Eliminating the pasta was the hard part--lol. Even doing it like that, sometimes I don't get hungry for almost 24 hours and dropped 5 pounds immediately. I know, I know, not healthy, so I have to try to do this the right way for a change. I guess my body is just trying to adjust to the meat that I normally don't eat.

Well, thanks for having me. I'm sure I'll love all the information here.

    Hi, blondie

    Welcome to ADBB!

YES! You defintitely need to read the book. Doing Atkins correctly is a very specific process, and knowledge is power. This board is based around the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (shortened to DANDR). There have been other books put out by the company since the death of Dr. Atkins, but DANDR is the last one written by DR. A himself and that is the one that advice on this board is based upon.

Until you can get to the book, check out this link if you haven't yet. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html Lots of good info in there, including links to some popular spots on the board.

    Good Luck!

      Welcome
I hope you keep looking for more ideas on how to do Atkins. I think it works well when it is followed and it also tries to teach us how to eat so that we can maintain our figure once we get there.
I think especially during the induction - which is supposed to be there first phase it is important to rely on whole foods so I would wait with using that protein isolate.
Here are some information on how do do induction
