Hello, all. I first tried Atkins in 1999. This WOE works so well for me as I am hypoglycemic and should not be eating carbs anyway! I have fallen off the wagon too many times to count. I feel more focused this time. I had tried losing weight by other methods, but the hunger and cravings these diets brought on just made the diets backfire. In 1999 I lost only 3.5 lbs on Induction. This time I lost 6 lbs and that included Thanksgiving where I cheated horribly and the scales showed a 4 lb gain the next day. I took that back off in just 3 days and also succeeded in losing 1 lb when on a trip. I am on semi-induction now, which I will stay with until I have lost 10 lbs (4 lbs to that goal). This time I cut out caffeine which is also supposed to impact blood sugar but that was really the only difference I can think of from the first time I tried Atkins. One reason I have gained weight back in the past is that I have to stay with a very low amount of carbs to lose/maintain. I have never been deep into ketosis, no matter how low I go. My passions in the food arena are potatoes and chocolate. I do make the rum truffles from the Book, which are rich and satisfying. I don't like mashed cauliflower - there is no substitute for the real thing! So, that's my story, nothing too exciting. I am a true believer, I just wish there were more low carb prepared meals out there. When Atkins was still selling meals, I loved the crustless crab quiches. I know of sources for low carb items, but they are always more expensive. I now buy some frozen meals where it is easy to identify the high carb parts and I just don't eat that part (eat the pot roast and green beans, throw out the mashed potatoes).

Welcome back, Boomerang! It's true that boomerangs always come back, huh? Hey, you're not the only repeater. There are plenty of us here.

Do you have the book? If not, you should get it and in the meantime check out Atkins Low Carb Dieting - FAQ's. I am always learning new things by reading and re-reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) and various posts on this site.

I hope you have great success! Best of luck...

        Re: Repeater

I usually cook ahead of time and make my own lunches. For example on Sunday I cook four chicken breast ready to go for a week's worth of lunches and then I just add a salad and I am set. Sometimes I chop it up and add mayo and make a chicken salad. But is it simple and easy and low carb.
