Hi everyone,
My name is Marie and I'm 21, a senior in college.
This is my first time on Atkins, and it's been a bit of a struggle. I keep going off and gaining weight back, but I've still lost 19.5 pounds in the past 2 1/2 months.
I'm 5'6" and started at 197.5. I lost ten pounds with a somewhat low fat diet, then started Atkins and lost the rest, I'm at 168 as of this morning. This is the lowest weight I've been since I was in high school, and I think I may have been shorter then because I'm a smaller size now.
I've dieted many times before, usually losing ten pounds through starvation, and then binging on everything in sight, gaining it back. I've tried so many diets, but they leave me hungry. I tried cutting carbs before, but didn't understand the importance of fat, and was starving.
I've never felt normal around food. Not ever, I was always craving something.
This is the first diet to make me feel normal with food. I'm not hungry. I still struggle a bit with wanting sweet things, but it's better now than it ever has been.
I'm pretty sure I'm not metabolically resistant, weight has come off easily when I'm able to stick to a diet. I went from 182 to 170 in two weeks of induction.
But I am addicted to carbs. It really is a true addiction, I could never get food out of my mind before. I loved bread, pasta, and cake. I was always thinking about food.
I slipped over Thanksgiving, and couldn't get back on for a week, but now I'm on day 11 of a new clean induction.
Scared of OWL, but I'll make it I think.
My first big goal is 154, which will be a normal BMI, and then my next goal is 140.
Just wanted to say, I've been lurking on this board for weeks, reading post after post. You are all so helpful and inspirational. I've gotten soooo much information from this board.
Thank you!
