  • Back again and not too sure

I last did Atkins, with great success, back in 2001 and at the time only needed to loose about 25 pounds. Fast forward to 2008, I now need to loose 60 pounds thanks to my pregnancy in 2002 and Im kinda freakin out about it. Ive been in induction for a week and have not lost a single ounce. I think the whole carbs minus fiber thing may be throwing me off becase when i started atkins in 1999 there was no such thing. You just ate meat and cheese and poof you were thin.

So should I keep it simple during induction and not try to eat anything that must be subtracted? I cant remember if I ever had this much problem before. I will say that my stomache has gone down a little and I have mucho energy, pee alot but thats it. Ahhhhhhhh! somebody set me strait here. Thanks

    Hi and welcome back!

Your best bet is to post this in the Second Time Around forum. There are other STACers there to help you with any questions and concerns you may have.

As far as the counting, I pretty much keep it simple. Which edition of the book do you have? I've been following the 2002 version of Atkins and it's real easy to follow. Not really much counting or subtracting involved there for me since I basically just stick to the meat, salads and cheeses and no extra items. I like to go simple and stick to mostly whole foods. Plus, most of those "extra food" items should be avoided during induction.

Good luck and see you around the boards!

      Welcome back to Atkins.
As Chynna says it is important to read the book and follow it. Atkins says to eat 3 cups of vegetables from a list he has there - so if anything with subtraction confuses you that should keep it clear. Eating just meat and cheese is not Atkins as we are doing it here at ADBB (And we follow the DANDR - Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution from 2002)

Ok let me clarify something. Certian things get lost in translation when your typing and not speaking (which is why Im sure you didnt mean to sound slightly unpleasant) I was exagerrating about only eating meat and cheese. I ate salad too. I was just trying to make a point about how the Diet has changed a little. I have the first edition he wrote and the last and I still have questions about things.

          Hi Canway, welcome home.
The best way for me to lose is just sick with the basic like you said, but I eat foods that I love so I never feel the cravings.
Some folks still swear by the old first Atkins and do it with a lot of success. Then there are the DANDR purest, like most folks on this board as the original crew used it like their bible.
Do what works for you just make sure you love the foods your eating. Add a lot of flax meal to everything, salads, veggies, as that is nearly pure fiber
Saying that I also think the older we get, the slower the weight comes off.
