Hello everyone! My name is Paige. I am 26-years-old living in southern Ohio. I am a recent college graduate and work as a School Psychologist. Like many of you, weight has always plagued me. I lost 30 or so pounds at age 15 with this approach but viewed it as a temporary 'diet' rather than a life-long, nutritional committment. In the years that followed, I gained all of my initial loss back...and much, much more. By my sophomore year of college, I hit 200 lbs. I haven't looked back since
. I used so many excuses for my weight (i.e., being a 'poor' college student eating unhealthy/conventient food, stress, boys, etc. I began to experience myriad health problems which, at the time, I never connected to my diet. As a young teen, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I began to suffer from fibromyalgia-like symptoms common in women in my family. At age 24, for the first time in my life, I began to suffer from unexplained seizures. Because I was still in the 'thick' of graduate school, I denied the true toll of my unhealthy eating.
Now that I am out of school and have had time to really reflect upon my health, all signs point to Atkins. I recently joined my local YMCA and hope to add regular exercise to my new adventure. I've been purusing this forum for a while now and see myself in so many of you. I know that I will benefit from getting to know you all and sharing my triumphs and struggles. I see the support you heap upon one another. I'm sure I'll need my fair share of that support and hope that I'll be able to return the favor every now and then!! Here to a new year and a new "life's" resolution!!! I'm off to prepare my kitchen!!
