  • Just a Question

    Hey guys,

I am new to Atkins and a former anorexic for 14 years. I am now 32 and I have be free from this horrible problem now for 2 years. The problem I have had with dieting lately is that it seems it is harder for me to lose weight then the normal person. Seems to me that this is because I have had such bad eating habits for sooooo long. Does this make sense to anyone? And will I eventually start loosing by staying with this plan? Thanks for your reply in advance. I am not stressing being that I am only on day 3 but I have just had soooo much trouble in the past with loosing weight. Thanks

    Re: Just a Question

This is an excellent WOE (way of Eating). With this WOE, I can eat until I am full and continue to loose weight. This is not a diet. Once you start this WOE, you must make a committment to remain with it. I started atkins over 7 years ago and have lost a significant amount of weigt twice. However, when I stray away from this WOE, I regain the weight. I find that i am healthier and happier with this WOE.

Good luck on your journey. You have come to the irght place for support and inspiration. I loook forward to reading about your progress and success.

      Re: Just a Question

Kristi, I hope you have a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, first of all (revised edition is used on this board).

The sad truth about having starved yourself repeatedly in the past is that you have forced your body to grow more resistant to weight loss AKA more efficient at surviving without food.

Since you will not be starving yourself if following the DANDR plan, you should still get good results as your body corrects inbalances and adjusts itself metabolically, but it could take (varies from person to person) a bit longer than someone without added resistance from yo-yo dieting.

When I was at one time a recent anorexic, I gained weight eating 700 calories... that was at a weight about 100 lbs lighter than I was when I finally found ADBB.

It's been slow, but without this WOE, I'd probably be dead, or immobile at least, by now. Good luck on your journey!
