  • 1st time did not last long...

    I started Atkins on 12/19 but the holidays threw me for a tail spin. I started again on 1/1 and have been doing really well so far. One thing that I did differently is that I am obsessive about checking the ketosticks. Like every time I go to the bathroom. This has really helped me 'see' that I am making progress. This is the 5th day and the sticks have been 'moderate' until last night, where it turned deep maroon. I couldn't be happier. I do not have a digital scale so I am going to wait to weight myself. That is a 'must have' when I get paid Friday. I am a little disappointed that I didn't stay on the diet more than 3 days before (also because I had terrible headaches and body aches) but I pushed through the 'induction flu' this time and today I don't feel too bad. That was the hardest part for me.

    Great to hear you got back to it. Remember that sometimes when the sticks turn dark purple it means you did not get enough water that day.

      The funny thing is I drink like 2 gallons of water a day. I get only a slight reading on the ketostix. Do not get too hung up on that reading. Use the sticks a couple of hours after a questionable meal to see if you are on point. It helps me see what my body reacts to now, not on the weekly weigh in. Good luck and Happy New Year!
