  • Exploring cooking and eating this year

Curious how this works food-wise. I am starting at point blank with no knowledge about this diet at all... except maybe no white foods? I love to cook but find it hard to get my kids to eat what I want to eat so I make lots of yummy soups and stir frys, salads, etc for myself. Darn kids won't pick up a vegetable unless it is raw broccoli... that's it!

I'm 169lb at 5'6" and have no idea if I'm overweight or not. I'm not that worried about weight loss, food prep moreso.

I want to garden this year, learn how to freeze and preserve fruits and vegetables, learn how to plan meals that draw together the same foods in order to reduce purchases. Hopefully all that should stop my wasting of foods. Am I in the right forum y'all?

It should be fun to learn new things this year.

    well, yes and no.
This forum and way of eating is all about real foods. Meats, veggies, some fruits (a bit later in the plan) and generally about becoming healthy.

We restrict out carbohydrates to 20g a day for the first 2 weeks (20g thru eating veggies) and cut out the bad stuff (breads, pastas, potatoes, flour, etc).

There are many sticky posts to check out in the main diet forum section that will clue you in on more specific info.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.
