Hello,
My name is Courtney and I started Atkins a few days before the New Year. I've had New Year's resolutions to lose weight before and have actually lost weight, but always seem to gain it back when I can't stick on a diet more than a few months. LA Weight Loss, Michael Thurmond, Weight Watchers, etc. So far this is one diet I think I can actually stick to, I get to eat satiating foods that I love and keep me full.
I have had the naysayers, who on Atkins hasn't, even naysayers that have been on Atkins before and lost weight and were very defensive about being on Atkins at the time. They don't phase me, I researched Atkins before deciding this WOE is for me. Found articles with compelling research and statements from medical professionals.
Then I had someone ask me how much weight I was going to lose before I stopped Atkins. My question is, if I lose weight and keep it off with Atkins, why on earth would I go back to any other WOE?
Thankfully, I have an Atkins Buddy, a coworker of mine. We are going to keep exciting and fresh by bringing in new recipes to work two days a week (we only work 3.5 days a week).
I didn't always have a weight problem, growing up and in my early twenties I was relatively slim, 5'2 115-120 lbs. Gained a little in college but lost it relatively easily. Quit college for a stupid boy and then gained some weight due to the bad breakup and some hard times, but stayed at around 140-150. Then in my mid 20's I had a partial thyroidectomy due to a golf ball sized tumor and went all the way up to 185. Have lost and regained and lost again a few times. The pictures are from a little over a year ago and around 180, so pretty much around my heaviest. I lost weight last year on Weight Watchers and got down to 160 but then started to regain it after the summer. So for Atkins my starting weight is 168, current weight after a week 165 and goal weight 120 (would be even happier with 115 but I'm not going to obsess over the last 5 lbs)
So, here's to a New Year a New ME!
