I am 72 years of age and have been following Atkins Diet, off and on, since 1978. I am 5' 7" tall and weight in at 180. I take blood pressure and cholesteral meds. and I have P.A.D. <Pulminary Arterial Disease.>
My Dr. urges me to lose at least ten pounds and walk at least half hour each day for the PAD.
I was able to maintain my weight at about 170 lbs. until I reached age 65. I gradually added a few lbs. until I've reached my current weight.
I find that I'm able to go on the Induction Diet for a few days, then suddenly have a "carbo attacK" and end up pigging out on my favorite no-no.........ice cream. As Dr. Akins says in his book, everyone will falter at times, and when you do, it will take three days for your body to again become a fat burning machine.
With the new year started, I have promised myself to try and return to the 170 lb. level, and perhaps shoot for 160 lbs from there.
