  • I am new

Hi, My name is Lia.. I am 49 and I have completed 9 days of the induction phase. I have lost 5 lbs. 10 more to go to my goal of 120lbs. I am 5 foot 2. I am single and have two teen age children. I am a family based therapist and I am on the go constantly and had to stop hitting the fast food and now packing lunch with lots of water. I have lost weight before with a no carb approach.. not atkins but my own version.. and lost.. I am USUALLY 120 lbs.. but a slow gain over 6 months of late night icecream.. lots of sugar in my tea and lots of soda.. and I love breads... it crept up... and 5 lbs over the holidays. So.. back I go again... I have small sizes... 4's and 6's... that I can't wear... as I carry most of my weight in my rear and legs.. my waist and tummy are flat. VERY PEAR SHAPED. I look forward to communicating on this forum.. thanks.. Lia

Lia, you only have 15 pounds to lose and you've already lost 5? In only 9 days? That's phenomenal! 33% of your excess weight is gone and you're not even finished with Induction yet! My understanding is that the average Induction loss is 5-10% of your excess weight, which would only be 0.75-1.5 pounds for you. You're doing great!

I have about the same amount to lose, but only am expecting to lose maybe 2-3 pounds during my induction period (I'd be happy with that). One of the long time members here suggested that since I don't have a lot to lose, I should go off Induction after 14 days and start climbing the ladder of OWL (at least the first several rungs) pretty quickly. I thought that seemed like sound advice so you might consider at least adding in 5 more net carbs a day of veggies, even if you don't add other things.

Just keep on what your doing It takes our bodies a few days to settle down and not losing for 3 days is typical. Some folks don't lose for weeks at a time but lose inches instead. AND when it comes right down to it, thats more important.
