  • Howdy Ya'll....lol...

Hello all. My name is Angela, and I am a food addict..... HAHA... Ok, it's not that funny, but it was in my head.

I have never tried Atkins, nor have I read the book. So this weekend I will be on the hunt at Barnes and Noble.

    About Me:
I am a mother to three beautiful girls. Leeya is 12, Sierra is 9 and Kaylee will be 7 on the 24th of this month.

I have been married to my husband 8 years in March.

I will be a YOUNG 32 on January 18th... HAHA..

In April I will be a Hodgkin's Lymphoma Survivor (cancer of the lymphnodes) for 5 years. (crosses fingers)

I am also an artist, I love to read, crochet and be on the computer. (this is other than being with my kids, they are my life)

    About the weight:
I have tried almost everything. I won't name the diets, but most diet programs that are on tv, the pills etc. They all work to some degree, but I never feel full or feel good. I am usually miserable, and that is why I usually fail.

I am 6 foot tall flat footed and I now weigh 297lbs. On January 2nd 2009 I weighed myself and I weighed 302.4 and I cried. So I started the exercising and last weigh in on Friday the 9th I had lost 5.4 lbs. It felt good, but I still do not feel good body wise. I feel drained, sleepy and that is causing me not to want to exercise any longer.

I am hoping that Atkins will help me, it is my last hope without having to go to the doctor.

I will read around the forum until I am able to get the book, and know what I am getting into.

Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of the forum. I look forward to talking with as many of you all that I can.

Your opening remarks may not be funny, but they are true. We are all food addicts. Breaking the food addiction is every bit as hard as breaking an addiction to alcohol or drugs. Probably harder, because you have to eat to live, but you don't ever have to take another drink or do drugs.

Congratulations for looking for the book! Reading the book and following the plan to a tee will guarantee you success where "diets" and pills have failed.

Be sure to buy the 2002 edition and not the new edition put out to push the Atkins Nutritionals low carb junk food (Frankenfoods). Atkins is all about fresh meats, poultry, fish, dairy and fresh or frozen veggies. You can most likely find the 2002 edition at your local library to get you started until you can find the book to buy.

I lucked into getting three copies at our Friends of the Library book sale. I went on the last day and got those books and a bunch of copies of older ones in among as many books as I could stuff in a grocery bag for $3--good deal!
