Hello all, I guess this is where I introduce myself. I'm 24 yrs old. Height-5'9, Current weight 220. Jean size loose and comfortable 14. I wear some 12's. When I was growing up I was always the slighty bigger kid. I have always been very active, into sports. When I was a junior in high school I was playing basketball (running my butt off) and needed some extra speed and confidence, so I started doing the slim-fast diet. I drunk 2 slim-fasts a day, a salad for lunch or dinner and ran like crazy at practice. I lost about 60 pounds by the time my senior year rolled around. I was wearing comfortable size 10 jeans and even had one pair of size 6 jeans that fit. When I got to college I went from about 150 to 180. I did the atkins diet while I was there but I have never read the book so I dont know if I did it right or not. I never checked the scale buy my clothes got a lot looser. People said it looked like I was just melting away. I did NO exercise at this time, other than walking back and forth to class. Well, after I quit I went back to regular eating and gained that all back. I started weight watchers a couple years ago where I went from about 204 to 188. I wore a comfortably loose size 12 then. I quit the meetings, and of course jetted back up to 220, matching my largest scale reading ever..Now here I am, getting ready to get married in June of this year (yay!) and I want to look fabulous in my wedding dress. I started atkins again on Dec. 28th 2008, so today makes about 2 weeks and 2 days. The scale I have at home is not digital, which I hate, seeing the ounces too really motivates me. Anyhow my scale has not budged off of 220 since I started. Not even the slightest fluctuation up or down. But I know it has to be right because I can put a 5 or 10 pound weight on it, and it shows up exactly 5 or 10 pounds. My clothes feel a little looser, not much. I know exercise is even more important than diet and usually I love to do it but since my fiance and I got together we are always on the go doing fun things, plus planning my wedding has kept me busy. But when I got smaller the last time I did this diet I didn't exercise and was succesful so I was hoping that would happen again. I usually eat a couple scrambled eggs for breakfast with a little shredded cheese in it. I drink water throughout the day, besides that I drink what is called Diet Crisp-it has no caffeine or aspartame in it. I also eat hamburger meat fried either in vegetable oil or on a george foreman grill with swiss cheese on it and mushrooms. I also eat salads with ranch dressing on it. If we got out to a steakhouse restaraunt I get steaks and put A1 sauce on them (probably not good) and get salad and veggies to go with it. I also eat turkey bacon and cooked cabage with either polish sausage in it or cut up hotdog weiners. I dont eat much deli meats at all because of the bad things I've heard about them on this diet. That mostly the things I have ate in the past 2 weeks, and 2 days...what could be the hold up? Or maybe I have lost weight but nothing dramatic enough for anyone to tell yet. My mother just tells me theres no way I can lose weight eating all these fattenings meats and stuff all the time. I would love to prove her wrong.. Also my future mother-in-law said that she did this diet before and in 2 weeks her hair started falling out and she got sores on her head. She quit the diet, and they went away. That's a little scary but I seem to be okay so far. I am lookiing forward to hearing your replies no matter what they regard. Everyone close to me is against me doing this diet and think it will never work. I hope it does, I can't wait to be able to look in the mirror and see my collar bone again! hahaha Best wishes to everyone, I hope you all do great!

You can do it and prove them wrong. Atkins works. I suggest you go and get as much info as possible to keep you educated. You have to eat veggies. Most of the carbs you eat throughout the day must come from veggies. I don't see why you could not loose 50- 60 pounds by wedding day. You do need exercise. Even if you just walk for 30 minutes a day. It makes a difference. I am on for a second time, too. I went off atkins after I had my appendix removed. Now that I have lost some of the weight(24lbs) down to 150 I have really gained a new passion for working out. Good luck.

Thank you so much for my first reply! It excites me that you said I may be able to lose that much weight before the wedding. I had NO IDEA that most of the carbs you eat during the day must come from veggies. I have been eating a whole lot more meat than veggies. Is cooked cabbage with butter good to eat for this purpose because I LOVE IT or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks a bunch and congrats on your 2nd time around weight loss..your success excites me too!

You can have 1 cup of cabbage a day. Look on your induction friendly foods. 12-15 of your net carbs need to come from veggies. Good luck!
