    Re: Potato Skins

What phase of Atkins are you on? If it's induction, then, no, potato skins are not allowed. They would be allowed when you reach rung 8, starchy vegetables--next to last rung.

Rather than "wishing you luck" I will wish that you take the time to read the book and take the advice to heart where Dr. Atkins admonishes you to only eat foods on the list and if it is not on the list, then you are to have not even a bite of it.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

      Re: Potato Skins

I love Sunny's "tough love" stance on everything!

But I agree, if it isn't in the plan for you, especially if you are new to Atkins, and you know it is not acceptable, why do it? Or why be on Atkins at all?

I understand "spur of the moment" cheats. I even understand "planned cheats", to an extent.... I, myself have a planned cheat in February, in Las Vegas.

But I can not see any reason to have a "planned cheat" if you happen to be on induction, which we really don't know if you are or not.

Actually you ARE on induction.... I just saw you only had 3 posts, and in one of them you say you are on day 10 of induction. And you just joined here today, so that post was today..... so I ask you... Are you taking this seriously, or not? It doesn't sound like you are.

Sorry, but you know you shouldn't be eating them, and you sound almost proud to announce that you are.

Hi justjules! I'm new to this board but NOT new to Atkins. I would treat all starches as NONONONO!!!!! Find an alternate LEGAL food such as Fried Pork Rinds. Melt a little shredded cheddar cheese and maybe a small dab of salsa. That should keep you content. PS: you diehards out there, I have never had a little salsa ruin my induction as long as the brand doesn't add sugar and extra carbs.

I guess you could call me a die hard of the first order, but there is nothing in salsa to keep you from having it on induction. It's mostly tomatoes, onions, garlic, hot peppers and herbs--all induction legal within the carb counts for those veggies. I use Pace chunky salsa "hot," which has no sugar, all the time. Hot peppers are noted for speeding up the metabolism. I spread cream cheese on my pork rinds and then dip into the salsa. MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm

            OH YUMMMM!!! SUNNY!!!
I never tried cream cheese on the rinds before! What a fantastic idea! WOW!!

See? You never know when you'll find a different twist to an old fav!
I'll have to try your version.

I must be remembering the first Atkins book that had tomatoes as a "very limited" food. Considered sort of a fruit only to be really enjoed with OGWL I date back to the 1970's version . LOL!! Guess I get confused. (Comes with age) And blonde hair. hehe
