  • Hi Everyone

Hello! My name is Sue, and this is my second time trying Atkins, and I really want to make it work last time. I lost 75 lbs from January 2001 to June 2005, some on CAD, 50 lbs on Weight Watchers, and the last 5lbs on Atkins. While I lost weight on WW, I was hungry ALL the time, and stalled out and couldn't get past the stall, no matter what I did..

Atkins was a revelation, because I was not hungry for the first time ever. I did stall out pretty quickly back then, but I was also pretty close to my goal weight. I never left "induction", but looking back, I can see I was not really doing a long term induction, since I was eating nuts and Atkins bars...

Anyway, to get to the point. I had twins 16 months and 80 lbs ago. I have lost 40 lbs, but still have 40 to go. I also found out that I have celiac disease (autoimmune reaction to wheat, rye, barley, and oats) so it's pretty obvious my body is suited to low carb. Because of the celiac, I seem to be really holding on to my weight - I hope against hope that I can lose on Atkins.. we'll see. At the very least I will stop gaining (going gluten free has caused me to gain weight).

I have just finished induction. My scale is bouncing around all over the place, I thought I had lost 6lbs, but today is says I have lost 3lbs. Who knows, it's better than gaining. I am starting OWL tomorrow for the first time, I'm going to just add back more veggies for the first week.

    Wish me luck!!

Hi Sue! Yup, sounds like this is the way of eating for you! Just remember (in my best mothering voice) this is a lifestyle change, not a temporary fix!
