Hey everyone...just came to introduce myself!

My name is Mary and I'm from Indiana...this is my first time on the Atkins Diet.

My mom was on it about 5 years ago and lost a LOT of weight...then gained it back.

I'm hoping I can stick with this for the rest of my life. I want to be there for my son...I don't want to be my mom. I want to play with him and do things with him that my mom never did for me.

I want to be a better person. I want to be healthy.

I started Atkins on January 5th. I am 5'1" and I am over 100 lbs. overweight. I don't want to die early.

Soooo....that's about it! Wish me luck on my (and my hubby's) new life!

    Re: Newbie

Welcome to the board!! I'm glad you choose to come here for the extra added support...and doing this for your daughter will just give you that much more umph on the hard days, so keep her in your head You've seen your mom do it, so you know it's possible. My suggestion is be sure to take before photos (you don't have to post them) but just to have them for your records so you can check in on your progress and keep yourself motivated. Best of luck to you!

      Re: Newbie

Welcome Mary, I am starting here today too (been here before) I started my Atkins on the 5th of Jan as well. We already have a lot in common!! I hope your son can keep you motivated, as well as your hubby and a boost to your own self esteem and maybe even your Mom will get involved again too.
My mom was seriously overweight when I was small, she found out she was a diabetic and went on the diet and put all of us on it too, we barely noticed. She never got down to an ideal weight however, she did likely loose 150 lbs and kept it off and gradually lost weight until she died when I was 19 yrs old. She lost those 150 lbs over approx 15 yrs time. I will never forget her telling me (when I was 1 that she was under 200 lbs and that was the first time she had been under 200 lbs since she had gotten married (25 yrs). Cherish your Mom cause you just don't know what you've got til their gone. Anyway, perhaps you can motivate eachother. It might be GREAT for your son to have a Mom and a Grandma who was more active!!
Well anyway, Glad you came here and since we live in the same state, maybe we could meet some time.

I am doing a 1 month challenge (on my Wii Fit) of 10lbs (1 month will be 2/15/2009).
If I make small goals, maybe I can reach them!!
Measurements...What measurements, my tape measure has disappeared!!
