Hello Everyone. Its my time. I need to change, I've been looking at this forum for a couple of days now. I'm 27 years old and weigh 260lbs. I feel ashamed. Normally my self esteem is great but a couple of months ago I used diet pills ( I know I know) I lost weight slow and steady my digital scale said 230. I figured I'd get off the pills. I bought a new scale guess what my old one was broken my weight had snuck up on me and brought friends. I've done all my reading all my prep work and doctor visits which were suprising normal and I'm ready and determined to do this I have not been under 200lbs since I was 14 years old. I'm tired of living this way (not suicidal) I mean living with the excess weight, being embarrassed of my size. So wish me luck. I'm starting a new life today... Thanks to all the people who post answers to help us with our questions along the way....

Re: It's my time!
Welcome Lola! Good to have you with us.
It's great that you've decided to take control of your life and change it for the better. Expect the first few days to be a little rough... you might get a bout of "induction flu" (which is when you feel under par due to your body weaning itself of carbs)... but after that you'll suddenly find you feel really good and energised. From there on in, it's much easier.
When your lbs start dropping, you'll have great incentive to carry on until goal.
Try to follow the programme to the letter. That's the most important recipe for success.
We're all here to help, so don't be shy to ask questions!
Happy losing!

Re: It's my time!
We are your sisters and brothers, we understand what your going through as we have been their ourselves. Its also NOT YOUR FAULT, so put that behind you. Stupid people say "all you have to do is eat less", and we eat less, feel worse and while we might lose a few pounds, we are hungry, we feel deprived, we feel discouraged and mad at ourselves. Then comes Dr Atkins and said, it's not your fault, don't believe that hype, its the whole American Diet that causes this. (I say American because eating badly started here and we have just exported our bad habit to the rest of the world)
Again, its not your fault, so put that thought behind you and join this revolution to eat healthy and as a byproduct lose weight. You can do it and at some point enjoy life again.
