  • Back in the Saddle Again

I have not "done" Atkins in years, and realized I had to do something. I am over 40, weigh more than I ever have, and live an unhealthy lifestyle even though my career is supposed to support a healthy lifestyle. I was inspired by many of my colleagues at work who are having success at this. I know Atkins works, it is proven in research and is evidence based. Since my annual physical is coming up and last time my lipid profile was way elevated, it will be interesting to see the changes in this year's after doing this for 2 months.

I am in the induction phase and just woke up with that ketosis taste in my mouth. I don't have any sticks yet, but I can be sure that I am already in ketosis because of the taste and the diarrhea. I am anxious to get some strips to see the evidence.

    Good luck everyone!

Re: Back in the Saddle Again

This is the first day I have felt like a new person! I had energy today. Got some keto-stix and I am in light to moderate ketosis. I am so excited! My dinner tonight consisted of a grilled ribeye, grilled shrimp, and a salad that I had no room for after the meat was gone.

I grilled the shrimp with mayonnaise and cajun seasoning and it was awesome! When I went to buy my ketostix today the girl at the checkout asked if I was doing Atkins. We struck up a quick friendship and have a walking date tomorrow at the local lake.

The book is so right when they say it is not a diet but a lifestyle. I found myself wanting bread so I went by the bakery just to smell and quickly retreated. I even passed up the Valentine candy aisle!
