Hi, this is my first time to try atkins and i found this website really useful. I'm on my 3rd day of induction and starting to feel better..(thank God)

I gained 40 lbs. in 2 years.. and i would like to get rid of it slowly but surely.. but i'd love to lose all of it before my birthday, which is in April..

    Do you think it's possible??

I don't know if it is possible. Some lose fast other slower. Depends on age, metabolism, how far down you are actually trying to push it.

Welcome to Atkins, and good luck on reaching your goal on time!

I had to rethink my goal date based on the rate I am losing. I felt it would stress me too much trying to meet it if I didn't lose as fast as I originally expected.

Hope you are one of the lucky ones who lose it fast. But if it takes longer, don't worry about it. You will still get there.

Good luck and try not to stress yourself out with unrealistic expectations. 40 lb in less than 2 months might be pushing it. Let us know how you progress! Don't forget to read the book! It's very inspiring and motivating and answers so many questions.

You don't mention if your male or female, but men do lose much faster than women.

            Re: Atkins Newbie

Something that will help with your weight loss is exercising, join a few of the exercise challenges to help firm your body up as you loose the weight (muscle looks much better than fat) a lot of exercises cost nothing to do (walking, going up and down stairs, pushups, crunches - none of these require special equipment or gym memberships), keep yourself hydrated (drink at least 64 oz of water a day). Don't live by the scale, there will be times your body needs time to catch up with your weight loss and you might not loose pounds but you will be losing inches -- make sure you take your measurements (if you haven't already done so).

Don't skip meals or go hungry, that's not how this WOE works. Read and re-read the rules and follow them - you can't "kind of" or "sort of" do the plan, you have to follow the rules to get the best results. Read some of the success stories and look at before/during/after pictures -- that will keep you motivated. Good luck and remember, if you need help, all you have to do is ask!
