    Hello everyone,

I am new here as of today, but have been doing research on the diet for about a month and have decided that I wanna give it a go!!

The only problem I have is getting my wife to buy in. She is in good physical condition (5'0 95Lbs), eats what she wants and doesnt gain a pound. She insists that I can go on the diet and she will take of herself, but I know there will be food in the house that tempts. I am trying to convince her that the long term of this will result in increased energyand healthier lifestyle but am having a tough go at it!! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks

    Hi Boomer,

I am confused about what it is you want? You say in your post that your wife is fine with you doing the diet, so as far as that goes she is "buying in" It seems to me that actually what you want her to do is give up everything she can eat in order that you are not tempted, which is your issue not hers.

If you are really serious about the long term health benefits of this diet, of course alongside losing weight then that should be enough motivation to not cheat. I believe if you go into this with the thought that you "might" cheat, then invariably you will. I went into this absoloutely determined that this time I will lose weight & I will not cheat myself by eating rubbish again. Boomer all I can say is that induction isn't easy, but then nothing worth fighting for is and to be harsh, you really need to take responsibility for yourself! your wife is ok with you doing the diet so just do it. If you cheat you cannot blame her for having food in the house that she likes, you will choose to eat the food, she wont make you. So just do it my friend ( the Atkins that is not cheating )

        Good choice

Come to the board often, always lots of great recipies & tips, lots of good advice and support to keep you on the straight and narrow!

Probably the best "tips" -for me anyway -were Don't weigh yourself everyday and don't compare your weight loss with other peoples. We are all individuals & our bodies will all respond differently. Enjoy the new you

Welcome to the board Boomer! What usually happens is after you've been on the diet for awhile, you lose your cravings for things you shouldn't have and frankenfoods lose their appeal. My husband eats the worst junk you can think of but it doesn't bother me at all! And I have to cook it for him. Pie is his favorite thing but they don't tempt me at all because I know what they do to me and find the very thought of eating them disgusting. So just hang in there. You can do it!
