  • Here I go again

    Hi all,

I lost about 25lbs about ten years ago using Atkins and kept it off for over 3 years when I was involved in an off road motorcycle acident. A week stay in a Trauma Center and the following rehab totally threw me off of my plan. That coupled with a nasty divorce (is there any other kind?) found me gaining 75lbs over the last five years.

Life has been a challenge, working full time while having full custody of my three kids ages 10, 15 & almost 17. I've known I needed to do something for sometime now, but I guess I wasn't ready, even after having to start on antihypertension meds last summer. It wasn't until after someone fowarded me my horiscope(sp) for 2009 that said something to the effect that I do a great job of taking care of everybody else, but I needed to take better care of myself.

Weighing in at 325lbs at 6'3" is way too much.

So that it was I'm doing. I broke up with my girlfriend and a relationship that just wasn't healthy. I finally got that MRI on my knee that has hurt for two years and have a torn meniscus(sp). Started surfing again. Been walking and hitting the gym too. I stopped drinking when I went on Atkins the day after the superbowl (2/2/09).

The Induction Phase went alright ~ headache initially followed by stomach cramps and some funky BM cycles ~ but I stayed on the "program".

I plan on staying on the Extended Induction phase without alcohol until my birthday in mid May of this year and then see where it goes from there. I could probably loose a total of 100lbs, but I'mnot sure that is realistic, so I'm shooting for 75lbs. That will put me back to what I weighed ten years ago and that'll be just fine. Wish me luck...although I doubt I'll need because this time I'm ready and committed!

    Hey there, bear :3

First of all - I just watched the Polar Bear King movie the other day xD I love that fairy tale! One of my favorites.

Well, let's see, the middle of may is 3 months away. I think looking at around 50 ~ 60 is more realistic for that time period However, that's WAY better than staying where you're at right now, isn't it?

And good for you for getting out of that relationship! Maybe you can even make it one of your motivators... Lose that weight and show that girl what she's missing! It really looks like you're doing a good job in taking a look at taking care of -you-. I know, the most important thing to do in life is to take care of your children, but to do that to its fullest meaning.. you have to take care of yourself And I'm so proud of you for making that decision!

We can do it! I hope to see you around more

I didn't even know there was a movie called Polar Bear King, imagine that. I Googled it and I'll have to rent it for the kids and I. Sounds interesting.

      Thanks for the encouragement...
